That Red Indian couple were in town playing their music today and selling authentic tat to the public, certainly make a nice sound.

What many, including myself, have been saying for some time - the high street/town centre needs to become a social meeting place/leisure venue that supports not only shopping, but housing, offices, hospitality businesses as well as events.

There is so much living accommodation above so many of these empty shops.
We need flair, imagination to change the mindset about shops/retail etc.
To create homes and communities out of these basically rotting buildings.

I absolutely agree with you Christine empty shops empty flats empty houses someone needs to take stock and act in this town.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Nothing much anyone can do if owners of property allow them to remain empty, local authorities can force them into making premises look tidy but that is it.

Heads up everyone FYI My shop (nifties) we're starting to transition to moving to an online business due to our Landlord Indicating their reluctance to repair the water damage from the upstairs from our shop which damage some of our goods last month and have indicated their intentions to boot us out with a view to attempt to develop our ground floor et al into flats as well.
Bought a house in the south of France the locals we're Avignon of it

**SPOILER ALERT** Got a call from Dover Express who were sniffing around our place I wouldn't be surprised if they spun the news that we're abandoning the town which isn't the case our arm is being twisted by the landlords

There were people queueing outside at 10 am waiting for it to open, also the sweet shop in the Charlton Centre has moved to a better position opposite the café.

Couldn't believe the appalling state of the town last night. Mostly purple Veolia bags. Why can't they do a collection in the evening after the shops shut, rather than in the early hours of the morning (I am presuming)? The gulls think it's Christmas. I have to sort my rubbish into at least three different bins. How do shops get away without having at least wheelie bins?
