If they can, then there would be a sticker in the window saying so.
If the need is as high as has been stated, they'd have more people using the toilet than the restaurant.

i wouldn't have had the cheek to go in without buying a drink, as roger says the town council have done deals with businesses and they will display a sticker saying that they are part of the scheme.

No-one would sign up on the sea front to the scheme, there will be a toilet on the sea front, but it is at the East Cliff end, the old toilets are going to be updated.

Sheila, I hope that doesn't mean the old toilets are going to be updated into one (communal) toilet.

Unisex toilets are coming in all over the place as an economy measure, why have two when one will do - Dover Priory and Canterbury Prezzo are two examples.
Re the Seasports Centre, it's run by Vista Leisure on behalf of ? The toilets are provided for users of the centre's organisations of which the restaurant is just one - the sailing centre, rowing club and gym are others. They're not a public facility but they're not exclusive to the restaurant.

I think the toilets in Harbour House should be available to the Public too. Since they have chosen to take this facility away from us all, on the Sea front, without any consultation.
This will show their new found community spirit

So no one has signed up to the scheme, that explains why there are no stickers in windows and who can blame them. Their toilet facilities should be for the exclusive use of their customers. This is Shameful, the only toilets at the busiest part of our seafront are no longer

I am sure the many coaches that arrive at the west end of the seafront would be grateful of access to a public toilet.

So who has signed up to the scheme? Anyone? Is there a list of businesses?

To be fair to the Town Council , they are working with DHB & DDC to refurbish/rebuild the East Cliff toilets & arrange a takeover for the future. See Sheila Amos postings.
This is sketchy info but is ongoing.

been giving this a bit of thought, all the buildings along and around the seafront with the exception of the flats are owned by d.h.b.
the latter have demolished the toilets, this surely means that ddc would be heavily criticised if any council tax money was ploughed in on d.h.b. land?

The toilet on the seafront will be updated, and also there will be a place for a small business to operate, a couple of shops in the town have signed up to the scheme, the toilets at the back of DTC, are also being looked at,

At Blakes we were always happy for people to use the loos free of charge AS LONG AS THEY ASKED PERMISSION. If they just walked in and used them willy-nilly (

) we would embarrass them by asking for £1 donation in a charity box. Seldom failed.
