they seemed to have "t" shirt for every band going, but when i asked the stall owner if he had one for the "cowpats" european tour with dates and venues on he gave me a blank look.
mr newsam may have to look at the marketing side of his operation.

T shirts are so last century Howard
We're expecting our latest range of commemorative T towels in any time now, much more appropriate for our following! Might be ready for the next stop on our grand European tour, next Saturday, 2pm at River school summer fete, get along there folks and spend loadsamoney!

There weren't many stalls there though Howard - about 7 or 8. Not sure if they have ever got to double figures yet.
At a Mayor's business meeting a few months ago, the Chief Exec at Dover Chamber said they were having a new launch of the market; didn't work then did it ? They don't even have the DBS Manager's name connected with it anymore - have they given up ?

not much sign of a relaunch roger unless you count an uninspring handbill in the convenience shop window.
the number of stall seemed to me like last summers average, the impression given is of an unmanaged hotch potch of individual traders.
to my mind a relaunch would involve something like a clown hired for the day handing out balloons or even a musician that would make enough sound to make people walk down there, i can hear ray dusting down his banjo as i type.

For the market to be successful, first of all it has to be nearer the centre of town. It is out of the way in the square as there is nothing to draw people to that area if they do not live in that direction.

I have a list of things that could be done to make it work and work very well; I'll let you know how they progress.

Maybe people will be drawn to Market Square when the VIC is relocated .

Thanks gents, daughter and I just could not think what it meant.
Sorry but I fail to see how moving the VIC will help the market improve. It needs the town's people to have a reason to go to the Market Square more, surely the VIC is only of interest to visitors who might go in that direction anyway.
Interesting shops are the only thing that will draw shoppers to that area and the shops seem to be moving towards my direction not seawards, I can not remember the last time I went past Holland and Barrett to buy anything.

JAN;
It is that draw that is required.
I have just returned friom York, and a thriving place it is, but travelled around the smaller villages and they to were thriving.
What is it with Dover?

The Funky Monkey is a good reason to go in that direction Jan.

Those in authority don't want to Keith and those who want to, don't have the authority.

brilliantly put roger, we all understand the complexities of the big things like the d.t.i.z but basic things like flower beds and troughs, river cleaning, supplying litter bins and dealing with rubbish in general is not that complicated or expensive.
