It is common practise and is one of the shortcomings of our short-attention span and trivialised society.

There is a trend towards simply knocking projects for probably reasonable but unimportant things like use of words (!) but that gets in the way of real progress. A more grown up approach would be welcome.

"why is it important to form a company - what about partnerships, co-operatives, mutuals, not for profit, publicaly owned, community owned, for the public good - if a company is involved there are directors, shareholders, stakeholders etc and who are you reporting to if it is a company - are then any deeds of trust ?"
Electronic Patient Record systems already exist and it shouldn't take a Board, with a Managing Director on £100,00 p.a., to draft a Training Record Passport so what else is in this? - 3 April 2012 08:36163029Mark - there are different types of company and they need not have shareholders so it is daft to get hung up on that terminology. Fairly typical short-sighted Grauniad reporting. The point is surely that a different approach is being made that is addressing some real issues. Good luck to them.

- 3 April 2012 19:22163141Mark , you are right electronic records systems do exist but each organizations system wont talk to or allow access to anothers .
Social services use 2 systems which only they can access , mental health services use another , Gps another and acute trusts yet one more with pharmacy services using a varient of that ,
This is looking at one system accesable by all the parties that might be involved in a persons care .
The training sysytem will involve the initial work to ensure that everyone agrees what is trained and how it is done once that is up and sorted it will be a relativly straight forward system to roll out so its not ( initially ) as simple as you appear to be sugesting . But I somewhat suspect you know that .
