Just found this on the Corby Web Site, I am sure as always True respect will be given by all.
Family and friends of Lance Corporal James Ashworth VC have been invited to Corby Town's FA Cup fixture against Dover Athletic on Saturday to join the club's remembrance celebrations.
The Steelmen will be holding a minutes silence ahead of the fixture, with wreaths being laid in honour of the fallen soldiers of the British Armed Forces, including Corby's own hero James Ashworth, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery after being killed in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province in Afghanistan on 13th June 2012 whilst serving with the Grenadier Guards.
James is one of only fourteen soldiers to receive the highest honour for gallantry since the Second World War.
His mother, Kerry, said her son had died doing a job he loved.
She said: "James will be forever in our hearts, thoughts and prayers and we will never get over his passing. But we will stay strong together as a family and along with his friends we will remain positive and celebrate his life at every opportunity as I know that is what he would want us to do."
His brother Coren is unable to attend the match however he told corbytownfc.co.uk, "It is a very nice gesture, I would like to wish Corby Town the best of luck against Dover."
Everybody at Corby Town Football Club is honoured and proud to welcome James' friends and family to Steel Park.
