08:2980405Just a light hearted thread. What day-to-day things or actions annoy you? (Please no politics or anything too heavy!)
1) Dog walkers who tie up dog droppings in small plastic bags and leave them on walls or tied to trees. Who do they think is going to remove them?
2) Charities that leave plastic bags on your doorstep and never bother to collect them despite a collection date promise.
3) Charity muggers who accost you in the High Street. Leave me alone! You may be a charming and eloquent student in a bright T-shirt with the gift of the gab, but we all know that you'll be taking most of my donation...
4) Littering and spitting. Goes without saying really.
Maybe this just proves what a miserable sod I am!

08:3680407I think most people would agree with those Phil.
People who lie and they know, that you know, they are lying. Being polite, diplomatic, or maybe it's called tactful, sitting with people who you know are so full of (what's the best word for a family friendly forum ?) nonsense, it makes you want to throw up.
Lack of honesty - same as above really. I could make a list as long as my arm, but time is moving on.

08:5880410item 1 always amuses me, if someone has actually gone to the trouble of picking it up why not go the whole hog and put it in a bin?
mind you that is better than the dog walker locally who manged to get his dog to drop his load halfway up my front path the other day.

09:3080414Yes indeed re number 1.. but what annoys me even more is the dog walker who doesnt even bother to bring the little plastic bag with him/her and then he/she leaves said large dollop of unholy excrement on the pavement for the next guy to slip and slide in. I can see Howard slipping ungraciously the other day in that load of unwelcomeness half way up his pathway

no not nice.
People still let their dog do the business in popular thoroughfares while gazing into the half distance pretending not to notice. I once here in Dover stood in such a mess and a few minutes later was hit by an almightly load from a flying seagull. I never knew seagulls let go in such a large way. So I limped home with a double whammy of misery.
I spent many hours cleaning the stuff offa me after that. Such unbridled joy!
Whats even worse though is when you stand in it and then get into someone elses car, unaware of your situation, which is then only brought home to all in car by the sudden rising and permeating aroma....

09:3980417addition to mine...
Girls knocking back pints in pubs, so unladylike.

09:4280419I can't give up my lovely pints of Speckled Hen, even for you BarryW!! My view is that it isn't the pints that are unladylike, it's the way the "ladies" behave afterwards!!!

10:2680428I agree about the dog mess,
1, the customers who leave the shop door open (pushed right back it stays open) when we are trying to get a bit of warmth into the place.
2, those who park in front of the drive so we have to use next door's entrance to get in and out.
3, party politics being raised needlessly on forum threads plus the waffle that goes on and on and on and.....................................

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Don't get me started about people parking over the drive!! We have a white line over our drive and people still sometimes park over it - and then we can't get out!! I had a blooming recovery vehicle parked across it the other day and had to phone the number on the side of the truck to get the guys boss to get him to move it! He was lucky - I usually leave for work around 5-ish and it was 7 that day. I would still have called though!! And when I was still picking the kids up from school a while back I sometimes had to call the police to get a car moved so I could get out of the drive!! Who do these people think they are??!!
Rant over.
Almost.

10:5580436I know what you mean Bern, I do not drive but my daughter and her partner often have trouble getting in and out mainly during the school pick up times. The other one is people using mine together with next doors to turn round, nice big area so no need for the three point turn. The recovery truck often blocks the entrance to both houses while he loads up from another house along the road early in the morning, that really makes me

.
My rant over, I think

10:56804371. People who put their feet on the seat on trains.
2. People who insist in inflicting their own choice of music on me, especially when played on mobile phones (too little bass) and loud car stereos (far too much bass).
3. Mime artistes.

10:5880438Yes, far too many things to list really, but pet hates:-
dog mess - definitely
people slamming car doors in the early hours of the morning then chatting in loud voices for 10 mins whilst they say goodnight and arrange where to meet next, they could have done that in the car!, a little consideration for others would be nice.
people who throw rubbish into your garden, try putting it into a litter bin please or else take it home with you.

11:0580440I agree with the dog mess thing too. I pride myself in being a considerate dog owner.
I hate queues that don't seem to move, I'm happy to queue if I can see it's going somewhere.
Cold callers at home or on the phone. If I wanted new double glazing, SKY TV, to make a donation to your charity I would have already contacted you.
The person in front of me when I am rushing to get a train ticket (and there is only one booth open) who insists on asking about every available route, timetable and pricing option. Read the leaflets or posters and then get in the queue!
People who insist on blocking the smallest aisle space with large buggies or pushchairs laden with bags, when I am trying to clothes shop. They then wander off leaving 2 or 3 crying children. I appreciate you may have to bring your children shopping with you but please consider other shoppers.
Being accosted in the street by charity workers, survey people etc.

11:1680445A few more:
1) Incredibly slow moving people (yes, had to say it, usually 'senior' ladies') in shops who just seem to block you and be completely oblivious to your presence trying to get by. Usually frequenting charity shops or M&S.
2) People at cash-points who spent 20 minutes inserting card after card in slow motion and then never draw any money out.
3) Appearing invisible at the bar as everyone else gets served around you.
4) People who whistle at work. They usually whistle small piercing refrains that stick in your head all day and are incredibly distracting.
5) Beggars that are acting destitute or are known drug dealers who make sarcastic 'have a great day' comments when you don't give them any money.
Humbug!

11:2680449Drivers who use the Terrace as a rat run, especially now with the roadworks at Cherry Tree traffic lights. Yesterday there was a collision near the Sportsman, those on the rat run then went up Erith Street and down Victoria Street against the one way traffic flow.

11:4480453Shop assistants who continue their chat and try ignoring the customers - mostly in the bigger shops, but so far not in Dover.
Hate it when they shut the till your queuing at and you have to join at the back of another even longer queue.
Really loud booming music coming from the next car at the lights, still they are the ones going deaf.
