Keith.
If YOU want something done about it, why is it not up to YOU to do something about it?
"we are paying for a local planning authority that should be helping to regenerate some employment out of it"
Have you put in some plans for the site then?
I totally agree with your sentiments and I share your anger.
It is despicable that this site is dying in front of our eyes and our local communities are not benefiting from a site that has much to offer and should be creating Training, Apprenticeships and Employment to a community that deserve far better than watching their heritage site fade away to nothing.
However, how does continually venting your anger on this forum, help?
I want what you want but they won't just give it to us.
Have you wrote to the CA with your complaint?
The Coal Authority

Have you personally complained to your MP or KCC or DDC officer?

We have elected representatives to do all this, they get paid for it.
I don't have much time on my hands, I go to work paying tax to be represented and paying for them on benefits.
just flippantly having a go at me will do nothing ,in fact it was you that suggested ,if I shut the f,,,up something was about to happen .
I have suggested to the ukip representative running for the Aylesham vote, he bring it up when elected to Dover council ,he is working on it now.
So hopefully the scandal of ripping of the taxpayers will be exposed and the negligence of them that should have been highlighting the issue will be exposed to .

They wanted to build a prison in Dover that got rejected ,they could have looked at this site, its well hidden and good transport links and good for employment.

Keith.
So you have, done something about it with your suggestion to a UKIP rep.
Well done, something positive from you, instead of your usual negativity.
I don't quite know how you have made that jump from "pits" to "prisons" but anything that will create employment is great with me.

I don't see that you have suggested anything positive for this site, yet ?
I also suggested euro Disney for this site back in the day before they filled in the shafts , but unfortunately your only ever listened to if your up Tory ass.
This site could have a new life ,helping to give local employment, if the political will was their to demand that it stop being a cash caw and taxpayers funded money pit.
This site has a direct rail link ,its got lots of potential
I have made the jump from derelict pit site ,to potential prison site because I work for a living and get to see other industry's and potential projects.

Who owns the land where the remains of the colliery stand?

The Plumptre Trust owns it. The Coal Authority have been tied into an 'historical' contract with the landlords since the 1920s and despite attempts to be free of it, they are obligated to shell out public money to 'keep' the building. This lease will remain in place until at least 2042.

As I was saying no political will to stop this benefit hand out.
So we all have to have this carbuncle on our doorstep.
The video is deceiving, the site is massif and the taxpayers are picking up the 24-7 security bill to

I would like to see a Rail Training Academy set up at Snowdown, giving local youth, high quality, on- site rail training, providing apprenticeships & employment, within in the Rail Industry.
I am proud to say that along with a very good friend of mine, local to Aylesham and others, nearly 200 local youth's, have been trained and are now employed in the Rail Industry, changing their lives and the lives of the community that they live in.
It has been my choice to work with everyone and anyone who is willing to help me with this scheme.
For me to help these youth's get into employment, I had to put my personal and political issues, to one side and if you think that that was easy for me, then you truly do not know me.
The main reason our miners fought so hard over the years was to keep our pits open and secure a future for our next generation.
We fought as hard as we could to keep out mines open but in the end we lost and now our pits are shut and we cannot change that.
However, if WE don't continue to try and secure the future for our communities today, our communities will continue to suffer and everything will be lost forever.
So if I have to work with someone who wants to help me, to help our communities and they happen to be a tory, then if it helps to secure our future, I will work with them.
The ironic thing about all of this, is that when I put my family or political hat on, I hate the tories just as much as you, probably more.
I got a full time job before I left school and I was never out of work until I became my disabled wife's carer.
I have paid my dues and so has my wife.
We would both give anything to be able to boast " I work for a living" like you keep posting on here, so back off, because YOU do not pay for our benefits, I more than covered that.
As for politics and the strike, I am a member of the "Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign", who will eventually get the full true story about the strike and put the record straight and I will continue to defend and support our miners, here in Kent and elsewhere.
Many "Armchair Warriors" have been firing arrows in my back for a long time now, when all I ever wanted was a better life for our communities but I am beginning to wonder why I bother.

I would love to see one or both of the old steam engines chugging out of their shed again.

Yes Vic.
I referred to the Apprentice Scheme at EKR in my #29 post.
What they have achieved with their "apprentice scheme" at EKR is quite remarkable and it must continue to progress.
This is an asset that continues to support our communities and our communities must continue to support it.
Keep up the good work Vic, hope you get more help with the bridge.

Gary ,,I posted on post 18
You flippantly challenged me when you didn't have to ,my question was a reasonable one, post 20 a reasonable one to.
I think you need to go back and have a look at some of your posts, and ask your self one question ,did they need to be so antagonistic ? ?
As for me being an archer warrior ,I am not hiding from no one
Ps
I don't think a training ground is a good idea ,we have them all over the county .
This site is massif and the development should help to create a large amount of local jobs because of the massif amount of housing that's coming.

At this very time the railway network are very short of trained men and that is why they are set up.and we do need more and they are paid as I said with job at the end.

My post #18.
"What are you are doing to make things happen at Snowdown, please?"
A polite question with a polite, please on the end?
Your answer#20
"Its not up to me to do f,,all or YOU"
Quite flippant don't you think?
Your Post #22
"I don't have much time on my hands, I go to work paying tax to be represented and paying for them on benefits".
A bit antagonistic don't you think?
Your post #25
" I work for a living and get to see other industry's and potential projects".
Both flippant and antagonistic don't you think?
Serious question.
If you knew you could get a load of local youth off the streets and into well paid jobs but to achieve this, you had to talk to the incumbent MP, who happens to be a Tory.
What choice would you make?

This trust could probably be overturned with compensation, if the development was in the national interest.

Keith.
The truth is that I agree with 99% of what you say about Snowdown and we should not be falling out with each other when we have so much in common.
Where I disagree with you, is by you thinking it will all be done for us.
Leaving this to those who should be doing something about, ultimately the CA, will get us nowhere.
Please answer my question?
