There have been so many political motivated comments posted on this forum that it is refreshing to find a comment which states the obvious that is so often missed. Thank you for your wisdom Mr Miller.
Mr Austins' contribution is interesting too, perhaps a fine for all non voters regardless of age would be a great revenue raiser but I suspect would only 'muddy the waters.' Imagine the chaos if it produced a 100% turnout!
M/s Higgins, what can I say, I'm sure many young people are concerned about what is happening in the world around them, as they are the one's called upon to fight the physical battles. Perhaps a simplistic view, but wouldn't more honest, less spin politicians who really have other people's welfare and aspirations in mind provide the encouragement for joe public to vote?
Do nothing and nothing happens.

You won't see me voting for any of this lot, Bob.
I haven't come across a political party I'd vote for.

Not a simplistic view at all and very true, as you say some young people are interested in what goes on around them but sadly far too many (the young and older) only really care about the things I mentioned.
By the way only Vic calls me Mrs Higgins so please call me Jan the Mrs makes me feel old or should I say even older.

KCC have a Youth Council, members are elected by schools, colleges and youth clubs. The standard of debate is very high, the subject matter often thought provoking when seen through a young persons eyes.

Oh dear Mr Bibby - another ill informed rant, if you had checked out our web site or even better attended our meetings you would know that this is a fixed fee contract with no benefits that was agreed by all attendees at a number of meetings and the appointment was made after 2 rounds of interviews.
Seriously are you the best that UKIP has to offer us locally?

ross
So Haw much in total is going in wages contracts costs and fees on the whole project
Would be good for the public to see in the interest of openness
My question is nothing to do with ukip ,
I am a ukip member just the same as you are probably a Tory or a labour member
My comments are as a uk citizen and I have a right to comment on diverted money from the charity lottery fund,
do I not ?
We have a history in this country of money getting squander on consultants when the answers to the problems tend to be the obvious.
PS. You're doing a good job keep up the good work.

Keith, please remember people's desire to pigeon hole others, its a reflection of their own tribalism. In their odd way they think that EVERY one of your views reflect that of UKIP and vice versa, its because they are so desperate to keep on message.
As you know, UKIP is a strong believer in free speech and open debate, so called free thinkers want to stifle that.

Should the money go to the youth clubs, or give it to a consultant to recommend spending on a statue or some other splurge ?

To date we have agreed the princely sum of £4,500 for a fixed term contract with a Community Development Worker to carry out activities that need doing but will be almost impossible to achieve through volunteer time.- the successful applicant has a clear set of deliverables she needs to provide and is currently giving a weekly summary of activities to the executive committee and will be making monthly reports to our open meetings.
The money is not "diverted" as this was part of the budget approved by the attendees at numerous meetings that were open to all - you could have attended and aired your views - you clearly chose not to.
The clearly stated Policy of Dover Big Local is to be open and transparent in all our activities - the only exceptions are compliance with Data Protection laws and if we ever sign a non-disclosure agreement with a delivery partner

Hopefully Ross your previous posts were directed at Keith B.
With regard to the thread title we do need to engage with/work with/work for the youth today.
There are a large number of the young who do great things but go unrecognised.
There are also many young very interested In what goes on in the Town and in the UK

Yet more cheap thrills...
Porn In Parliament: 300,000 Viewing Attempts
"Nearly 300,000 attempts were made to access porn websites from computers within the Houses of Parliament over the past year, official records have shown.
The figure - which represents more than 800 attempts per day - was released by Palace of Westminster IT chiefs in response to a request under a Freedom of Information request from the Huffington Post UK website.
It covers devices linked to the parliamentary network, including those used by MPs and peers, their staff and other employees.
Officials sought to play down the significance of the total, insisting..."
