It's usually part of an A&E, Roger.

And they won't be having one of those Peter, just a Minory Injuries unit. I'm sure I've had something through about new services at Buckland, I'll try and find it.

A&E is unfortunatly very expensive and as a result people have to travel great distances in an 'emergency'. In my opinion we cannot do enough to supply these services as locally as possible.
It reminds me of a close friend that had a 'routine operation' in a private hospital. In the night, all was not well and as a result she had to be rushed to the William Harvey.
Ref #19: Perhaps if they haven't got enough space they can just add on another storey?

would need a portacabin or two to get that lot in.

You could definitely support a portacabin on a single-skin brick/blockwork construction.
As if cavity ties provide any structural integrity - a wonderful analogy for the NHS and the private health care system.

# 14...Correction.....At the appropriate time all documentation regarding this travesty will be sent to the Local Government
Ombudsman to bring it into the public and media domain.
In brief,,,,,,
EKHUFT own the Buckland Hospital site ........Dover District Council own the Maison Dieu site....formally the Brook House site
another DDC fiasco.
From day one DDC have wanted to build the Hospital on their land..Masion Dieu site which enabled a land swop exercise
with EKHUFT land at Buckland Hospital site.
EKHUFT would get a `Hospital` in the centre of the town, and kick off DTIZ and DDC would build houses on the Buckland site.
In September 2007 DDC were told that their site Maison DIEU was on a flood plain and it would not be permitted to build a
Hospital on the land.
In their desperation to keep to their plan they ignored the evidence of the flood plain.....wasting two and half years to build
our Hospital.
Even when the site was rejected the DDC ( Regeneration Manager and Planning dept ) were still stating their preferred
site was still Maison Dieu site.in full Council and Scrutiny Committees.
Politicians might know the facts or they do not or they, for convenience they do not.......time will tell.......

Do your thing Reg.
Your posting is full of inaccuracies, conspiracy theories & omissions.
You carry on in your usual blinkered way.
I won't be responding to your accusations please contact the Ombudsman and keep yourself occupied.

So anybody now the life expectancy of this building ,?
I still looks a bit cheep to me ,not even got a pitched roof ,
I remember sitting in the baby unit in Canterbury 1980, and buckets under dripping water from the leaking flat roof , the hospital was telling us they have no money for a replacement roof ,
And that baby unit was built in the 1960

Cheap because it hasn't got a pitched roof?
Corbusier would be turning in his grave! ...Saying that, many of his buildings leaked.
What would you expect from this building Kieth? The elements you discribe, you may as well leave it as it is.

You now all about construction then?
A pitched roof will last 100 years and more
A flat roof 15 to 50 depending on the system
It's called value for public money Mr. dt1k
Something public sector workers don't seem to get
