This man, Darcius Howe, said in a national TV programme that he found in Dover "The mark of the beast".
I wrote him three polite letters via the production company asking him to explain his comments.
He ignored trhem all. Seeing this, I am glad he did.
I present this with no further comment:

darcus has been discussed on an earlier thread today, there is nothing left about him that is not ludicrous.

Sadly he lost the plot a long time ago
Now it is solely about promoting Darcus Howe

Andrew, have a look at #112 in Riots in Tottenham thread. I remember the programme. Your youtube link is not working for me.

Alec, I have fixed the link for you. Unfortunately I didn't read through 112 posts yesterday on the other thread.

"And I saw it in Dover, where the refugee row was going on. People told me there were Albanians, Kosovars, wandering the streets smothered in gold, and stocking up at the butcher's every day with their tax money. Ha. I could hardly find any. I found three Kosovar kids, on a bench. They'd lost their father, lost everything, didn't have a hope. And the locals were throwing stones at them. I cried. I thought, "This place has the mark of the Beast."

I wonder what his response would be to the two separate immigrant thieves we had in the shop yesterday.
I can never understand why those who seem to hate this country and see all these terrible things that they pontificate about, continue to stay here and not go back to their homeland. I am not talking about those who come from war torn areas.

I was interested in reading what had been said, I thought others might too. It does not strike me as having much force, more of a throw-away remark. No more damning, I'm sure, that what he has had to say about many other places.

A pretty extreme remark, Tom, based on a single isolated incident with no given context and not even verifiable. A bit odd to say such an offensive remark was 'throwaway'. it would be interesting to see Mr Howe's reaction if someone made a racist remark against him and described it as 'throwaway'. Such a comment could be used as a figleaf for a multitude of sins.
He was seeing what he came to see no doubt to confirm his prejudices. Sounds a little like you are defending him.
I was right to challenge his bigotry and make no apologies. I think the silent majority will agree with me.

tom posts with a strong sense of irony, darcus is beyond the pale(no pun intended) and from what i saw of his behaviour on television the other day he either starts drinking very early or he has mental health problem.

I don't buy this "irony" line Howard. One is either saying something, or not. It can be used to fence sit and pretend you are not saying something that you actually do mean. If you say it, you mean it, is my view.
Jan, by the way totally right. If the UK is so repugnant to anyone, they have the option to leave.

Ironically, yes Howard.
His declared aim, IIRC, is to "pursue the English to our last fastness". The self-confessed enemy within; albeit one not to take seriously any more.

I think I must be missing something here. In the youtube clip he says that the young are getting restless and only the police and politicians didn't know this. That seems a fair assessment to me and borne out by recent events.
Tom's link took me to an interesting article about how one man sees the way the country had changed over the past 40 years - a description which I recognise.
From the way he is being denounced on here he must have done something terrible but I don't know what that is. Can somebody enlighten me?

One of the best radio interviews I have ever heard was the Joan Rivers , Darcus Howe incident on ? Midweek with Libby Purvis on radio 4 , Its still avaliable if you do a google search , she stopped him dead in his tracks , I wouldnt want to cross her

Sarah
thanks for that and, yes, a very impressive performance by JR.
I am still not sure what Darcus has caused such a strong reaction on here though and feel I am alone in my ignorance!
