21:3879873Colin! I thought that the stars were created to help illuminate the night sky. So they have a function!
Yes, all centred around Earth! And how many phrases and poems have been dedicated to stars!!!

13:3680004Thank you Alex, "stars are there to view and enjoy" you say. Seeing as only one galaxy, (the Andromeda), is easy to view with the naked eye, you`re implying that the other billions of galaxies containing billions of stars are there for life on other world`s to view and enjoy, or like the bible reviewer`s, are you now going to juggle things round to fit in with what you believe in? Sorry for being slow at replying mate, but I`ve been ill and bedridden the last few days, but now on the mend. Plenty of time to read and enjoy the real facts of life.

14:2780006Hello, Colin! I hope you are feeling better!
It's better to make the best of having so many stars around us, shining down on us, all made for us to admire! The Earth at the centre, the Sun and the Moon and the Stars doing their daily cycle around our world. There is no other planet for us to enjoy, and I try to make the best of the one we have in my every-day world here in Dover by the Sea!

14:3580010Thanks Alex, a bit better than I did. Glad you enjoy it all up above us. I must correct you on one item though, it`s the Earth that rotate`s to give the impression of them going round us.

14:4980013Well, when I look out of my window, I see otherwise. Sun doing it's daily work, 24hours, the moon too. I simply couldn't immagine myself finding any enjoyment looking for some other planet.
Kent is so beautiful, I wish I could also have a nice orchard here to look after. In the very Garden of England! Earthly desires!

12:3180125Sorry Colin but you are wrong as well, not only does the earth rotate, but the stars in their galaxies are on their own stately rotation. As for what Alexander D has to say about the stars only being there for us to admire - it takes my breath away that anyone can make such an arrogant statement.
And as a matter of fact aren't there parts in the bible where the heavens part and prophets descend on their chariots (was it Elijah or Elisha?). These people were writing about what they knew and they wanted people to live good lives, abiding by the laws and doing no wrong to others. That is what the Bible is - a set of rules and stories.

13:0280127that reminds me of the the bit in "the life of brian" when he is being chased through a market and shakes his pursuers off.
one of the crowd then points upwards and shouts "he has gone up to the heavens in a chariot of fire", the bloke next to him then comes back with "no he aint he's over there".

18:5080153Sorry Diana, I`m not wrong, I do know that both Earth and the galaxy we live in rotate`s, but Alexander is giving the impression of looking up at the stars and watching them sail across the sky, relative to a stationary Earth, whereas because of the distances involved, the stars certainly won`t be seen as going round us that quick. Some of Alexander`s answers I find really confusing. Thanks for your posting.

21:1180187Well I did consider your point, Colin, and it seems that at present, interplanetary voyaging doesn't get other than to Mars, and that at great expense, usually ending in disaster! Unmanned spacecraft of-course! But even if one got to Mars, what would one od there? Couldn't even plant a tree!
But the recession has probably cancelled all further space research in terms of interplanetary discovery, and I think that investment is usually concentrated on satelite technology, which involves man-made objects rotating around the Earth. So at the end of the day, Man's space research does have fantastic results, but only when considering the Earth as the centre and the satelites rorating around us, to satisfy our immediate earthly demands!
In this sense, space research has proven useful.

21:1780189Diana, infact Elijah ascended to Heaven on a Chariot of Fire. The Chariot of Fire had just descended from Heaven to fetch him. Elishah, his disciple, witnessed all this.
Before ascending to Heaven, just before the Chariot of Fire descended from Heavem to fetch him, Elijah asked Elishah to pronounce a wish, and the disciple asked for the double Spirit that Elijah had, but Elijah made clear that only God would ultimately decide upon this.
Men never descend from Heaven, only Divine Beings do, as the Bible explains.

22:0580198and you consider this to be literal rather than allegorical?
