The Dover accent

21 November 2021 10:25373149Oh dear who got out of bed the wrong side this morning especially as I mention studying linguistics as a reason to be interested in accents?
My comment was just the way I feel about accents be they posh, ordinary or grating to the ear, maybe time to stop reading what is not there. Is that a big enough dig for you and I am not into settling scores real or imagined, life is much to short at my age.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
------------------------------------------------------------------- - 21 November 2021 10:56373151Funny comments.Each region has its own dialect .I personally love to hear the east Anglian one.Essex then onto Suffolk and Norfolk .When I was a GPO telephonist we had to learn how to pronounce some of the village names..My husband was from West Cornwall and when he returned home being with his family and friends I had to try to understand what they were saying.Mt Daughter in law from Devon often uses words from Devon.
After living in so many Counties I don’t really have an accent .Probably come over rather posh as that’s how we were taught to speak .
Both my Daughter and Granddaughter attended DGSG and we used to say they have the Grammar School twang.
