This part you might not know, but I did tell you all over two years ago now,The old part of the Hospital at the top has been sold off already for Housing, and the funds made from that sell have gone into geting the new Hospital, the only beds in the new hospital will be the babywing, this will a totel new wing on the ground floor.i have now seen the new drawing and plans of the Hospital,This is the best Dover is going to get, so please make the most of it by helping out when it is there. Thank You.

this now begs the question "will those with a political agenda still carry on with the pretence of fighting for a proper hospital"?
in my view they will just carry on.

20:3681344They can do what they like ,but a big wast of time .But our MP did know about the Hospital and where it was going well over a year ago,and so did we all .It was never going to be on any site bar the it is going on.To say all about the other sites was wrong it was just to help him ,in making us all think he could change it all about.

21:4581355Of course they will Howard, but then the self publicity was and is always more important than the cause

21:4981359very sad though ross, playing games with an emotive subject.
demographics make it clear that we are covered with major hospitals in ashford, margate and canterbury, even the coastguard made it clear that they were happy as things are.

21:5381361Mr Miller you are very wrong on that one.All I have done is tell you what I know, and not about any Publicity for myself, and to say it is better than the cause does not go down well in my book.

21:5381362Oh I agree Howard - but that is the lot of our shallow, often ineffectual, politicos

22:0181365Vic - I was not having a go at you, in fact thank you for the information.
My reference was at all those tired, sad, publicity seeking muppets out there who will continue to fight for a general hospital at their favourite site despite this decision.

11:3181609I just wish that the hospital we do get will have facilities for out patients appointments so that I and others like me do not have to traipse over to K & C or WHH or QEQM for every appointment. The other week I had three appointments and by the end of the week I was completely shattered. You have to be really healthy to be ill these days!!

12:3281613Mrs Woodridge, very good point there,I did point this out to the chairman and a Dr at the meeting, and they have told me that they are looking into this, and that some out-Patients appointments that are not there at this time might be when the new Hospital is up and running, and when I go along to any meeting with the NHS I keep bring it up ,so I will update you from time to time.I went on to tell them if you are unwell it does not help siting on a bus etc for over 1hour and again to get home.

12:5081615i think margate is the most difficult journey, even with a car, a nightmare by public transport.

16:5081646quite right brian, whether you use train and bus or just bus, there is very little difference in the journey time.

18:3781782I have spent as much as 6 hours. When you have a morning appointment you have to be ready from 7:50 onwards, even if your appointment is not until late morning. Then for example, you can be picked up, and have to go via (as I did the other day) via the other end of Deal as well as other pick-ups on the way, then after your appointment, wait to go home and again, drop offs (I went via Folkestone and Densole back to Dover last week). This is not the fault of the hospital transport people, they are kindness and helpfulness itself, but I can tell you it takes a lot out of you, especially if you do not travel well. I am absolutely dreading 3 times weekly dialysis.
