Thought something was brewing when the quality of their croissant plummeted.............
Bob Robbins Tesco`s chief operating officer must have thought the same..........to sell 50,000 of his shares a week
before the crash and made £ 44,000..............who needs financial advisors ?

tesco nees to cut out the gimmicks ----------------------- last year had a shelf label advertising aproduct at £1 or 2 for £2 !!! and at christmas turkeys advertised at half price , the same were in sainsburys for £2 cheaper , when asked what is going on tesco said they were double the price in june last year so not breaking the law
but these sort of promotions treat the customer as idiots
today we had a morrison leaflet in door saying 4 pints of milk is £1 next week , in somerfield it is about £ 1.40 , so proper promotions

There's a large food retailer not so far from us with two branches within very easy walking distance. They sell the same products, give or take, but at different prices. A reduction in one was 55p dearer in the other, another different item was reduced for a quick sale to stay in date - the other outlet was charging the same price for the same item but well-in-date.
Methinks one needs a degree in local history and maths history these days to go shopping and not get caught out.

The figure was actually over £200,000 - not that it's anybody else's business... being perfectly honest.

it is everybody's business if he knew what the sales figures were going to be.
this story will have more legs on it.

Why is it everybody's business? Is everybody a shareholder? My point was that Noel Robbins made over £200k not £44k. Good luck to him. There's many who have done much worse than sell a few shares for profit.

some have gone to jail for it too.
people are interested in whether he had access to the figures prior to selling the shares.
anyone who bought the shares would have not had that knowledge.

Insider dealing is a criminal offence and there are clearly defined windows when managers can buy and sell shares in their employers. However, I fail to see how any senior executive in a public company can ever not be in possession of price-sensitive information.

True Peter, they must know how their company sales figures are fairing which are a good indicator which way the shares are going to go..........but I know nothing about stocks and shares

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

maybe he has covered his tracks well but i suspect that we will hear a lot more on this matter.
i expect dave and company to bow to public pressure and demand a full investigation.

Not a matter for ministers. Small time insider dealing is usually dealt with by the CPS.

Just in case the CPS are looking in..........so many people do.........Noel``Bob``Robbins offloaded 50,000 of his shares
at 404.5p each on the 4th Jan and pocketed £ 202,255........by selling them a week before he made nearly £ 44,000.....
just for `anybody else`s business`

disagree peter, this is a great opportunity for dave to display his "all in it together" credentials in front of middle england.
he will mutter something along the lines of unacceptable face of capitalism whilst wearing a concerned expression.
if the penny has not dropped with him yet it will have with his advisers.

Hopefully he will maintain a dignified distance from the issue while allowing the appropriate authorities to investigate without political interference.

Reg the only people disadvantaged will have been other shareholders, who presumably come under your heading of elite greedy pigs.
