It states quite clearly donot disguise who you are, therefore why are people posting with absurd names. Please donot insult our intelligence by allowing this.I understood this forum was monitored.Whilst many posters are known to each other at least we have respect.

This forum is linked to twitter, most people do not use their real names. I doubt it is someone trying to "insult your intelligence" I think they may just have moved with the times a little faster.

What's the problem ? Has anyone been rude or used foul language to you ? Looking thro the members on here a lot have used various names ,I really do not see what your grievance is ,I prefer to be incognito for a couple of reasons ,most important being my job .Im not rude and I don't use foul language ,but if I think you are wrong then I ll say so and that goes both ways .Do hope that puts your mind at rest

It is a valid point the terms of reference state donot disguise who you are. This is not Twitter. If you are an adult than act like one.Im surprised the editor has not stepped in.Still I'm old fashioned and what I think is offensive isn't to others.I must say Indo respect Ray Who's comments are good ?His comment re an event is very true.Having been on the events committee DDC I'm aware of procedures.

I thought you had to be a member to post on this forum.
The rules used to be real names only, obviously the rules have been quietly changed by the new owner which is a shame in my opinion.

I can think of a few more using this theme:
British..........................Ron Uk (Ronuk)
New Zealand................Kiwi
Italian Communist.......Cardinal Red
Scottish........................Scots Liquid
Belgian..........................Pledge
Bankers.........................Mansion P
There must be many more.
Not suprised people are using aliases when you get idiots posting this kind of racist stuff.

I've allowed people to register without using real names for a while now - it doesn't seem to have had any negative impact and we've got some new members who maybe wouldn't have otherwise joined.
We have two pages on Twitter and Facebook so people can find out when there's new content available...

I beg to differ Chris.I know your generation are up to speed with I T etc but you Are going to loose more posters by allowing this nonsense. Some of us can sometimes come out with sound advice. Some of the postings recently have been upsetting i.e"Get of your Backside""You know me personally and I have always worked hard the Village which you grew up in.I have been to many many memorial services .Now is the time for me to watch others. So pleaseiif you want to keep sensible postings going think again. We have lost some good posters.Several Councillors and people like Ian

If you give out criticism you need to be able to receive it too. I've not seen anything that could be interpreted as upsetting, not agreeing with an individual's opinion is healthy and democratic. If people don't like it then don't post.

The forum has always had heated debate which is OK but when things get personal it turns other people off from posting. The Battle of the Somme thread is a great example but Chris has obviously not read it.

Sorry if this offended you Mr Heart, but it was definitely not intended to be racist. It was just a skit on names of polish and was taken in the manner it was intended by Cherry Blossom poison 666.
Perhaps my sense of humour doesn't appeal to everyone's taste, thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I have removed the posting, but your copy still remains; perhaps you would feel less angry if you removed yours also.

I have this crazy habit of trying not to work at weekends. But I've now caught up...and wish I hadn't.
Back to the subject of usernames, even if someone registers with what looks like a real name, we have no way of knowing if they're genuine. I don't see the difference between someone using 'John Smith' or 'Cherry Blossom' as a fake name.

Sue, the councillors usually leave when they get criticised to often, I guess a case of getting out of the kitchen as they can not take the heat.
Chris, I prefer a proper name because I feel I am talking to a real person as opposed to simply a funny name. Cherry Blossom is more of a proper name made up or not unlike new member Cherry blossom poisoning 666.

I know most of the regular posters on here, if not personally then by their real name (though I did have my doubts about Reginald Barrington when I first googled that name!).
