I see that we were very lucky to miss all the storms last night - this corner of Kent was a hole in the storm tracks, though from the state of my car this morning, we must have had some dirty rain. The Belgian coast was not the place to be this afternoon - storms for 3 hours that at one time looked as though they were coming this way but then went north instead.

I am still waiting to see the violent storms they said would hit us in this area.
The Met Office still has a yellow warning for this area for early tomorrow even though there is no rain forecast, maybe time to be a little more sensible with the warnings.

Jan, we only just missed last night - much of Kent had storms - pretty well everywhere west of a line from Folkestone through Canterbury to Faversham. Given what's brewing in France at the moment we may not have to wait until tomorrow afternoon.......
At the moment (10 p.m.) Buckinghamshire is getting a hammering.

All I can say there must be a wall dividing our street .My next door neighbours were not cleaning their cars so the sand must have stopped down the centre of the road.Dont think it was four hours !,

Still got that silly yellow warning even though no rain is forecast for today

.
We get the rain tomorrow, I think I might delay my shopping trip until Wednesday.

And now a Kent Police warning about additional accidents on the roads over the Bank Holiday:-
Kent Police.
Think before you drink. On Bank Holidays some men drink far too much and allow their wives to drive. Ask yourself. Is it worth the risk?

There's a lovely big batch of storms in northern France that look as though they are coming this way.

Would that be the risk of getting home safely the drunk mound and then putting him into bed whilst cleaning up his sick

If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Last nights storms never came this way - apart from a lot of rain but there's a small one offshore at the moment, not doing much. (0915)

Just had a downpour here at Whitfield. The storm tracked through Thanet, Herne Bay and Sheppey, so we've been lucky again! Trace it here:

I am beginning to wonder if the Met Office can actually provide even a reasonably accurate forecast for this area. A look out of the window at the sky gives me as good a guess as to the likely weather for the next several hours.
It has been raining on and off all morning but they had/have no mention of rain until this afternoon and even show "sunny intervals" symbol for the 10-11.00 slot.

I got caught in the downpour about 10 am and literally got soaked to the skin, the pavement on Maison Dieu Road had deep puddles in no time.

Jan, forecasting can only give a general picture for a fairly large area - you can't account for little local variations. For example, we have just missed another storm which tracked from Folkestone pretty well along the line of the Downs to SW Essex in a belt only about 5 miles wide. Try forecasting that!
Howard, I sympathise - had I not got stuck playing a recalcitrant game on my computer, I would have got caught in that lot as well!
