Howard, this is not a Town Team project.
It is the work of Adeline Reidy and the Dover Hoteliers group who have gained funding from the Big Local amongst others, to paint up and shroud the building in banners promoting the many attractions of Dover and emploring people to "Get Involved" with the Big Local Project. If she can get all the money together it will certainly tidy up this eyesore until something more permenant is arranged by Weatherspoons.
Adeline is a very tenacious lady and it is all down to her and her team. Another good piece of work for Dover!

just one of my wind ups simon, great stuff from adeline - i just hope her team are respectful of the floral arrangements on the building and don't do anything to spoil their rustic charm.

Well done to Adelaide and everyone else that is involved.

I hope Weatherspoons give a sizable donation after all it is their building and their fault the place looks as awful as it does..

£8,000 to improve another group's building is certainly a lot of money.
Maybe this is where our councils should be seen to actually do something by persuading Weatherspoons to improve their building............. the threat of legal action or compulsory purchase might work.

20m cherry pickers about £60+ VAT per hour to hire.....pretty expensive for a big job like that.

I understood the majority of the cost (£8,000) was for banners and netting over the building. I also understand that the whole buildiing isn't going to get a lick of paint, just the bottom bit that won't have the banners/netting.
I believe this projct was part of my previous Newsletter.

If you want an eyesore or two have a look at DDC property and land, they need to get their own house in order first.

The Gateway Building Society offices in Castle St and the Palace of Whitfield are in pretty good shape, David.
