The 1940s Wartime Weekend Military Vehicle & Living History Event - Saturday & Sunday 28/29th April 2012
*****************************************************************
'The 1940s Wartime Weekend' at Dover Transport Museum aims to commemorate the vital role that Dover played as both a Port and vital hub of national defence during WW2, in addition to highlighting the contribution of those on the Home Front, and that of our Allies, throughout those war years.
We are most gratefully anticipating that the Right Worshipful Town Mayor of Dover, Councillor Mrs Veronica Philpott, and the Chairman of Dover District Council Councillor S R Nicholas will be attending the Event.
The Event will also be visited and inspected by 'HM Queen Elizabeth', a local lady historian who accurately portrays the then Queen (the late Queen Mother) as she was often seen during those war years, visting the bombed towns and factories of Great Britain.
Expected displays include:
Military and civilian period vehicles
Military & Home Front displays and demonstrations.
Period Band and Dance Groups
M10 'Tank Destroyer'(tracked 'tank' type armoured vehicle)
Fullsize replica Spitfire or Hurricane aircraft(subject to availability)
Raffle to win a Jeep
