  Pictures from a few moments ago showing a very high tide. The beach has vanished completely...
  oh dear! I'm sure it was there before...

  The kids who spend all day diving off the pier have been neutered. The leap effect has disappeared in the high tide as has some of the pier! Oh gosh !
  
  
  
  As is always the case with an influx of humanity...litter gets left ,coca cola bottles and whathaveyou, but the cleaning guys religiously do it everyday and definitely keep it spic and span.

  paulb,a high spring tide,with a nasty 7 knot tidel rip.enough to get you into trouble.

  martin,it looks like a 7 meter plus spring tide,and with tose kids jumping of that pier looks dodgy.

  Ah yes Paul I saw a bit o this on TV (and on your link ) and it looks awful. Brighton gets a huge mass of people, it literally heaves. The traffic powers down from London at breakneck speed with kids shouting all the way... are we there yet??

  I used to go there and you couldnt get room to spit...not that you'd be spitting of course!!
  
  
  As a counterpoint and although there have been some grumbles about rubbish, we dont get anything like that scale of problem and we have an excellent clean-up squad who eventually get round to gather up the inevitable. I wanted to take a picture right now to show how clean it all is here but most of the beach has disappeared under a high tide!!...that solves that problem..

  Yes we are so lucky our Beach and seafront always looks clean,some people just do not care makes you wonder if all those who come down to the seaside, for their day out by the sea leave their own home towns in the same sort of mess.
