Does anyone think that someone who is prepared to shoot a little girl in the head or to behead another human being deserves any compassion?

#60 and #62 - well said Vince.
Alexander - he has been flying operational missions, make no mistake about that. There are a couple of SAS troopers assigned to him, nothing strange there as he will always have protection, an army surrounding him only in the sense he based in Camp Bastion. The attack on the base was extensively discussed here and it is clear that despite their propaganda it was an attack planned long before it was known he was there.

One simple solution, withdraw and let them sort themselves out-there is no end game here for any western involvement.
Never give up...

Richard - sadly that will just encourage them in their terrorism and it will be back on our streets with many British and American civilian deaths.

Who is what?
This is the question that plagues this conflict, emulating ones enemy in every regard serves only to broaden the scope of the question.
We cannot strive to be the same and continue to claim to be different.
The Taliban are as much imposed upon the Afghanis as we are.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

The only thing we need out there is strike basses, with total civilian exclusion zones.
There operations remit only to attack drug production and Taliban
Helicopter transport, covert operations, no more policing or harts and minds
Just let them do there own thing.
And yes kill any thing that enters the exclusion zones around the camps.
Or get out and nuke the place

There is no evidence that the Taliban conduct any joint operations with Al Qaeda, nor that they sponsor international terrorism.
HM prisons are the place to keep a look on to track down the recruiting of extremists in the Al Qaeda front, as well as Somali bases and Syrian rebel formations.
