I don't agree with some of the sacking/not employing stuff I have read, but I think some people live their lives through social media, they can't get through an hour without a Tweet or updating there status on facebook. They have to post pics from the previous night out etc etc. It's easy to check up on people so if you don't want employers or potential employers to find you, don't state where you work, don't use your real name and make your profile private, choosing your friends carefully. Simples.

Indeed. I don't tweet so can't really comment on that (tried it once it drove me mad!)

I do use facebook I also have a facebook page for my photography and cemetery stuff but as that one is public I make sure I am careful about what goes on there. My own profile for family and a few close friends is private.

Twitter is great, a news feed to all that you are interested in. It is a tool.
Facebook is just a way of people trying to prove to one another that they are not boring. People that have just had babies are the worst culprits: 'little johny has just rolled over' ...who cares?
The worst of all facebook statuses being someone writing along the lines of:
"DT is feeling really down"
Followed by someone writing:
"what's up hun?"

the best ones are when someone states exactly where they are, effectively saying my house is unattended and the window at the back is very easy to force open should you wish to burgle me.

I sometimes think that some statuses should just be updated daily to "I'm an idiot, here is my address and I'm on holiday".
Facebook is largely the manifestation of insecurity in individuals.

Howard I have sadly seen it happen to someone I know. They posted pics of their new sports car sitting on the drive. They already said what area they lived in. It wasn't too hard to work out the end house on the close. Next was a post about 'away for the weekend' followed by one about, yes you've guessed, 'we were away for the weekend and the car was stolen / house broken into'.

Here's some picture of my holiday, isn't my life wonderful?
...so much so, I sit in the evenings uploading and annotating the photographs.

my favourites are the ones that post holiday snaps from exotic places that see them scaling mountains, jet skiing, bunjee jumping etc.
of course the disability living allowance people take a keen interest.
