17:0986364It is now 4.05pm and there has been no post today yet a lot of post is expected.
No snow, no ice, today is Christmas Eve and is not a bank holiday, so what is Royal Mail's excuse today?
What an appalling service they have been providing lately.
They must be privatised soon because as they are now they are hopeless....

17:5086370Royal Mail van delivered a parcel opposite us this morning at 09.15. No post the last couple of days for us, not even Student Finance England.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

17:5986372Quite the opposite experience here. We missed a couple of days in the worst of the snow when nothing much was moving but the postie delivered them the next day, working till dark, and we have had normal deliveries for the last three days.

18:3986378As has been said on here it's not about privatisatiuon it's about poor management.
the staff happy to deliver but if your put in a position by a poor manager telling you if you deliver your not covered as per health and safty if you have a fall gives you a bit of a dilema.
we had one post yesterday
none for past 6 days
but hey ho can save up to pay bills longer lol

19:0486391couldn't agree more keith, this dogma about privatisation is not the answer.
besides up in scotland the royal mail have been delivering in the worst weather, the private courier companies failed miserably.

20:1786403Barry royal mail has to provide a one price service to all addresses in the UK,Unfortunately politicians have encouraged partial privatisation called direct access which means companies can collect company mail deliver the local mail then pump the rest into royal mail to deal with at a price set by the regulator thus losing 5 pence an item. There is no company that can provide the service nationwide at one price. Managers are now all yes men because they have to be. Other companies mail also has to take priority. The only way forward is to stop trying to privatise it through the back door.

08:4686434I didn't think they were trying to privatise it through the back door; I understood they were standing at the front door and doing it, not hiding that fact by hiding round the back.
Modernisation is what the Royal Mail needs; many other European countries have already done so and are more efficient, by not modernising here, makes it much more expensive, so service is often impacted.
I have the greatest respect for the postie, but sometimes he is led by donkeys (both management and unions).

for a conservative your last post made great sense
roger
privatsation is not the answer, getting managers in that know what they are doing, and capable of doing so is way forward

09:2186438Even the Labour government realised the RM needed to be privatised but chickened out in the face of union opposition.
