Shingles Club!
- 3 August 2010 09:4263780Some of you have noticed that I've been a little MIA recently, that's because I have shingles. Some days were worse than others and I have to take it easy but I'm the world's most impatient patient and hate being ill! Those of you who have had it will know how painful it is.
- 3 August 2010 09:5263781Oh, you poor love. I sincerely hope you get absolutely well again soon. I have never had it (crosses fingers!), but can remember my chicken pox when I was little, and that was horrid.
Of all things, my middle daughter, when she was 12, got shingles. No one believed her - they all thought it was an illness for those of us of ... well, more mature age
. Indeed, not so, and she was very miserable with it.

Maggie apparently younger people are getting it now, I laughed when they said I was 'younger than average' (although no where near your poor daughters age.) I have never had chicken pox. I'm on to week two now so slowly getting there, some days are worse than others and the fact that it's so painful that I can't sleep doesn't help. Still I mustn't moan too much, there are people going through far far worse.

Take it as easy as you can, and just do what you enjoy doing until you feel a lot better, don't take on a lot of commitments. My Dad had shingles when his immune system was low with other stuff too and it took him a while to recover - you have my sympathy. BTW - you young whippersnapper should bounce back nicely!!

A friend of mine at work has just been diagnosed with Shingles and has caused a bit of a stir as the doctor didn't sign her off with it even though she felt poorly - lots of discussion, but our OH has said she is fine to be in work, and advised to stay away from pregnant ladies.
