10:2170245Mr Newsam ,in the mean time some one could slip into the road going to work or school , Mr Perkins was right to put it on the forum and it did not take long to just get out there and do it myself.

10:2870250Sorry Vic but I did and I remarked to my driver that Colin had put it on the forum about it - I do not post lies!!

There was definitely a man sweeping there at 7am and it wasn't you - end of!

17:0470300Correction, we don't see people walking to and from work up/down the Whitfield Hill all the time. Occasionally folks stroll up that way, to work or Tesco or whatever, but it is most certainly not a pedestrian hot-spot. If 30 pedestrians are seen in a day it would very unusual.

17:3170312Keith, with all due respect, how can you be so stupid? I know that sounds harsh, but really....
Bern warned of the dangers involved in performing such an 'uncontrolled' activity. If Vic had been hit by a passing vehicle, or once careering into the 'trap' who would be to blame? Would you seriously be saying, "does it really matter"?
Was Vic wearing a hi-viz jacket? Was he suitably mindful of the risks he was taking, and prepared accordingly? He wasn't sweeping up a bity of litter in a leafy backwater in River, as, by his own description the traffic speed was a concern. The fact that he was daft enough to put himself and others at risk certainly shouldn't be condoned or encouraged. A stern reprimand would be more appropriate.
I sometimes wonder............................

hardly correct to call fellow members stupid.

17:5070327So, you think it's a good idea to do what Vic did, and for Keith to suggest it doesn't really matter eh?

i will put it simply, you can call an idea stupid not the person.
we are a club, would you call a fellow lodge member stupid?
it is all about and i quote from the website of our new honourable member "play the ball, not the man".

18:0070335Point taken Howard, thanks.
Keith you are not stupid and I sincerely apologise.
Keith, that you condone Vic's stupid action is, in my opinion, a stupid thing to do.

18:0970339To be honest I believe that Jacqui obviously saw someone sweeping up at 7am and that Vic probably swept up again later that same day.Vic obviously can't claim that Jacqui is wrong or lying as he by his own admission wasn't in the area at 7am. So they are both right.
You can understand why I was such a hit in the Diplomatic Service...a right grovellor...(not)

18:2170343Thank you for your good points Marek, all I can say about the person who done it at 0700hrs he had the broom upside down.

he might have even been sleep walking.

just to add to this and what Mr Perkins said,I was on the walking path all the time I was cleaning the path I did not go onto the road at anytime so it was the same for me as it is for anyone walking up the hill or down it,also I do not agree with how many of the public walk up and down there in one day,but that does not matter anyway the speed of the cars need to be be down to 40 or even less over the whole hill.

21:2470393The man I saw sweeping the path was wearing a high viz jacket. My driver picks me up at 6.55am so it was 7am by the time we went up the hill.
Marek - I love your diplomacy

You are a great character x
Sid I'm with you too - I travel up and down Whitfield Hill several times a day and I very seldom see anyone walking in either direction. It's a hell of a slope to walk up anyway!!
Keith, I'm sorry mate but Sid is right - it does matter. It would be very silly to take on something like that without the proper equipment.
I think maybe what happened was that the council sent someone along to do it at 7am then Vic went up there hoping to be seen "helping out" and found it already done so maybe just pushed his broom about. One question though - Whitfield Hill is nowhere near where Vic lives so why would he get involved anyway? Very strange

Well shouldn't the people we pay our taxes for to do it, do it? Not only because they are trained and equipped to do it properly and safely but also if they keep getting called out to the same spot then it might be noticed that something's wrong and something might be done to the design or material to stop it happening.

22:0370409I agree, but i have run projects as a volunteer that could be classed as some one elses job, but it's as important to get the volunteers/community working together
