Paul, a lot depends now on other people's mistakes.
Those elected in Parliament will be judged by their actions at the next election.
However, UKIP does have about a dozen seats in the European Parliament, which confers a great deal of experience to the party, which can rightly claim to know everything about how 27 countries have been and are being governed.
This enormous baggage of experience should count by now, combined with the mistakes that the MPs in Westminster might make.
Of-course, if the MPs do a good job in Parliament, then they will get back in again, and precisely that is what people are scrutinising: are they doing a good job?

keith's prediction;
UKIP will split a lot of votes at the next general election
some going to labour
but overall gain no seats in the houses of parliament
ukip will claim it a victory as percentages up
but win nothing
heard it before?

Keith, UKIP probably isn't aiming at gaining seats in the uppper house of Parliament at the next election, but only in the lower house.
A lot depends now on individual future candidates making themselves known in their respective constituencies.
Again, MPs are already known within their constituencies, so for them to stand again, they would preferably have something to show what they have managed to achieve while already in Parliament.
In our case Charlie Elphicke. If he managed to get the People's Port through, stop the urbanisation in Whitfield and have a functional hospital at Buckland, and plenty of local jobs up and running as well, he'll have achieved his main pre-electoral promises or, in the case of the P/port, his revised policy (somewhat different to the pre-election promise).
If none of this comes about, however, then why would one expect the Tories to win again in Dover and Deal?
So we must wait and see how it fares, while in the meantime making known our own proposals as an alternative party.

the reds will be relying on the ukip vote the next time around, it is the only way that they can get power or more likely a share of with the present leadership they have.
blue strategists know this and are having difficulties knowing what to do as so many of their grass roots workers are going over to vic and alex's party.

Keith, I haven't been asking people to vote candidates into the upper house, the aim is to have candidates standing for the lower house.
I haven't said UKIP won't win, but the contrary. I don't know where you got the words from you claim I've expressed.
But I will confirm that it's not our party's policy to have candidates standing for election to be voted into the upper house.
