Bomb disposal man in full gear was working on something on the jetty opposite the toilets and has now returned to the bomb disposal van.

The loneliest job in the world..
off the bomb disposal expert goes through the deserted street. He is wearing his heavy grade clothing, his full face helmet and his metal chest plate...
Its always great to see these guys returning..and here he comes.
here he steps across the ghastly new road scar...but I suppose this is not the time to mention it.
Brave man.

Dual carriageway Westbound has now reopened.
Marine Parade still closed.
Forensic investigators from Kent Police have arrived and are on jetty opposite toilets.

Is it a device, or a suspected device?
We should all keep our eyes and ears open for anything suspicious, and report it when need be, and not lower our guard.

Marine Parade and seafront promenade all now reopened but no more news on exact nature of package.
Yes, Alexander, we must remain on our guard at all times.

Great up to the moment coverage Paul, you are lucky to be at the right place for the pictures. I suppose it will end up that some holiday maker left a bag behind in all innocence, better to be safe than sorry.

May-be someone had decided to take up residence in a seafront shelter?

Great 'on the spot' war reporting there PaulB, especially the pictures and report on the Bomb Disposal Expert

I have mentioned in another thread that I bumped into Howard hastily making his way towards the seafront to report and take photos of the incident this afternoon. I think he thought that he had got a scoop but it seems that our leader, PaulB, got there before him.

I was in Marine Court (was Millers) when this was going on, we were told that a device had been found and although it was all wired and was made to look like a bomb - there were no explosives - worrying that this was either a foiled attempt or a dummy run for someone to watch our services in action.
Either way - I think the advice is be vigilant - and report any packages that look suspicious - it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Thankfully, Alec, the Police got there before PaulB...
Just a poor joke, no offence meant...
