21:3037602Three Romanian immigrant`s have each been jailed for 9 months, after being found guilty of stealing metal components from 3 British diesel locomotives while in store in Gloucester. Ciprian Dumitrascu, Madalin Vladucu and Mihai Antonala raided the loco`s and stole copper and cabling from them, thus causing two of the locomotives to be scrapped. There`s repayment for our hospitality. The loco`s had just as well have been preserved steam locomotives, aircraft, or historical cars etc, they don`t care for our history. But then, why should they? To the uninformed on here, several eastern block countries with preserved steam loco`s on plynth`s, have had them loaded up in the night by thieves, and cut up for scrap. So, after 9 months, are they sent home, or do they come out and carry on?

23:3537626We have to hold on to them Colin.
Our leaders have already told us about 60 times that we need immigrants to help our wonderful country to run well.
They must do their time and carry on as normal. Ripping us all off.
If you get a knock on your door Colin please promise you will call me before you let them in, I'll slip out the back and the wife can answer the front.
Joking aside......send the buggers home.

09:0337648There should be an agreement with other countries that if their nationals commit crimes in this country, we'll send them back to serve the sentence there. Why should we have the expense ?
Sentencing here is far too soft and there is total disrespect for our laws and culture by these people.

I thought I`d use this post rather than start another similar one. I`ve just read on the latest Sheffield forum post (sorry PaulB, I do peep now and then), that a 21 year old man has survived a 66,000 volt shock after apparently breaking into a substation as a metal thief. Unfortunatly, he survived, and now has severe burns, and will be using NHS services which would be better used on more worthy individuals. They`re the sentiments of most of the members. P.S. Not Romanian this one.

these metal thieves are a very serious problem, i know that last year a crematorium was broken into in kent and a load of memorial plaques were nicked.
how must the bereaved feel?

Some preserved railways are in serious trouble in parts of the country, mostly voluntary worked and financed. Steam loco`s require copper and brass fittings, and while these are expensive metals, they have to be machined, which adds to their cost. The scrap value is paltry to what it costs the railways for the loco parts.

The trouble with metal is, it acts like a magnet for criminals.

If it's magnetism, then it must be the poles doing it.......

Colin, thanks for that, I did! But I kept all the jokes locked and secure in my room, that was some time ago, over a month ago, but they are funny though! Not having publisided them, no-one can tell me off!
