Hi Marek - yes please, if you don't mind.
Thanks Rick - much appreciated.
Keith - it wasn't MY joke, it was probably as old as me, but yes, it made me laugh so I wanted to share it with those here on the Forum. I never dreamt for one minute it would offend anyone.
I didn't analyse it at the time like so many others have done since, but after all the furore died down, I did read it a couple of times and analysed it and came to the conclusion that it wasn't insulting anyone at all, but it did imply concern over the perception of the Government (any Government really) approach to immigration - people DO think that immigrants get more than us indigenous people, we know that isn't true of course, but it IS the perception.
I still feel quite firmly (after analysing it), that it wasn't a racist joke, I did apologise for any offence it may have caused and think it's time to drop it and move on.
You may have noticed I've not posted any jokes on the Forum since - and don't intend to - if people are going to complain over such an innocuous joke, then I don't want to take that chance.

Roger
As I have stated so many trimes, whilst YOU may feel the joke? was not offensive, there was a post from an individual outlining how her chilldren were ridiculed by comments like these, at the time you rightly apoologised, asked for the jokes removal and I fully supported you.
What you can't do is hide behind its some one elses joke, you posted it, you had that choice.
I have no doubt had a tory govt been in place you would have thought twice about posting it, it was a clear hsave a dig at this Govt as you say.
I feel it backfired, and with open postings comes responsibility and its a shame you didn't let it all die down.
I never felt the joke to be in good taste, but wanted to defend your right to post
but your latest position defending the joke? i have to give my view

Roger unreservedly apologised if the joke had given anyone offence, and has said that the joke was about a popular perception over the approach "of the Government (any Government really)" to immigration.
A recent action of Roger's has demonstrated to me a lack of prejudicial bias on either race or political party. He has once again behaved as a gentleman.

Oh for goodness sake - I go away and when I come back this old story is back!
We've all had our say and I thought it was done and dusted so why Keith has to bring it up again I don't know! We've all read what he thinks before so can we now move on and discuss things that are interesting. (I will now expect another post from him telling me how everyone is entitled to a view

).
Considering everything Roger does for our town, in his own time and at his own expense sometimes, we should all be grateful to him. Pity there aren't more like him in Dover! Well done and thank you Roger for ALL you do for Dover

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
If anyone brings up this silly non-issue again about Roger's joke, just once, then I am going to post the joke about a disabled lesbian dwarf muslim with tourettes who went to a pig farm with a catholic amputee Nazi holocaust denier and a Jewish bank robbing necrophile. You have been warned...

...And you join us on this glorious sunny day for the final leg of the LAST WORD RACE. Roger thrust forward with a promising leap towards the last word, but has now been overtaken by the well-trained Keef who now holds the lead. The tension mounts and the excitement climbs to dizzy heights as this race rushes towards its close. Who will win the last word race?

if you take out rick's post the average word count from posts 26 to 39 is approx 1 and a quarter.
if we are not careful the whole forum could turn into one of those geek web sites with only funny faces, lol, pmsl and text speak filling it.
