I don't know if any of the residents of no 7 East Cliff ever look at this website but if you do, could you please do something about the overflowing bin outside your house?
It is shedding litter all over the pavement and the road and the place looks like a rubbish tip.

And that's how it should happen

Good job Sue. Always feel sorry for the residents of East Cliff/Atholl Terrace as the area has the feel of a forgotten backwater...

Do wake up everyone. 1st of August is the normal regular collection date from this address. No one has actually moved anything forward by one minute.
https://secure.dover.gov.uk/streetcollections/. Praise where praise is due, but when none is due, none should be given really. The rubbish bin will be allowed to overflow and crap up the area until the day that the area is due its normal routine clean-up and rubbish collection. Sue may have asked/alerted the relevant officer, but he/she has basically said that nothing will be done until the routine due date, so no extraordinary action has been taken to clean the mess up at all.

I'm just in receipt of info that more happened with the DDC officer than was reported on this thread, so apologies from me for taking what was written and what is in the public domain on the DDC web site at face value and concluding as I did in my above post.
It transpires that the officer did a little bit more than inspect the area and report back that all would be cleared up on the normal routine day. I am informed that the officer spoke with the offending party and that the immediate situation was remedied with further clean up on the normal day.
So apologies for being a dreadful cynic, but comment can only really be made on the facts that are known, one cannot take into account unknown facts or be held accountable for leaving them out of a comment when they simply have not been made known.
As said previously - 'praise where praise is due' and it would seem that such is warranted on this occasion.

Neil, you can hardly be blamed for jumping to the same conclusion as I did when such a small bit of information is given either on this site or elsewhere, unfortunately none of us are mind readers.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Some positive news for once re DDC which has to be encouraging.
Unfortunately it confirms my long held view that DDC should stick to simple tasks like emptying bins, it is clearly incapable of regeneration or revitalisation.
Councillors and officers will point fingers and pass the buck but threads like this beg the question:
What do these people do to justify their salaries and associated benefits?

Yeah I did have a meeting with him earlier in the year, absolutely nothing has happened since.
Nothing ever does, they just barricade themselves in at Whitfield, wring their hands and issue the odd bland press release about a cinema or phone aerial.
Its time they held their hands up and admitted they're not up to the job, I don't know how the Regeneration Dept has the nerve to call itself that.

I'll give you another example Sue.
A few weeks back I received a call from a senior figure at DDC saying a delegation of business people from Calais was visiting Dover and would the Town Team like to meet them to discuss ideas and opportunities. I enthusiastically agreed but the date came and went without another word.
Is it any wonder the perception of DDC in the town is despair bordering on disdain?

Yep, and I praised them for what they did.
The Chairman then came on to tell us what a wonderful job she's doing, I thought I'd add a bit of balance.
