I don't mean to criticise good intentions but really? The Remembrance day parade is listed under Sport and Leisure. Rather careless and inappropriate towards grieving family members as it's not just those who made sacrifices in both World Wars that will be remembered but many more recent casualties. A moment to put that right is required, surely? Having said that it's reassuring the occasion will be marked appropriately .

Your informants on 2yrs ago are wrong, true it is rarely exactly on time and rarely silent, but that really isn't the point it is about the symbolism and the time for reflection.

Well having looked at the notice of Remembrance day, I am delighted to say the "category" the event was mentioned under was removed. Good to see a change for the better. Whomever was responsible, grateful thanks.

I see this evening FIFA have rejected the FA request to wear poppies, the team representives are meeting to discuss the decision.
I hope they give the V for victory to FIFA and wear poppies regardless.
I will contribute to the FIFA fine if they were to be so inclined!

I can only think that somebody at FIFA thinks there is something triumphalist about the day which is incorrect in the extreme as my understanding is that originally after the great war only our dead were commemorated but gradually we have had the second world war and various conflicts before and since and it is now a service of remembrance for all those that have died in same.

The German day of remembrance "Volkstrauertag" will be marked on the same day this year, Nov 13th as our own rememberance day making the the day a more poignant affair than normal.

And I've grown believing the same thing ,it's not 10,50 nor 11,05 but precisely 11am and if London and all other cities towns and villages can get it right ,why can't Dover ?

Nice display of poppies outside the Town Council offices this morning, didn't have my camera with me though.

Am I right in thinking that the crosses by the Dover war memorial are usually out by now? There has been a shortage of poppies for sale too. If I remember correctly there was a lady sat in front of the memorial previously, selling poppies etc. She has not been around. Hope the dear lady is well.

I thought that when I went past this morning, normally they start setting up on the 1st and have a table there to sell poppies. Haven't seen a poppy seller yet but no doubt the local air cadets will be out in force on Saturday.

The lady you talk of was there at 12 and the table sale will start on Saturday.
There have also been poppy sellers in asda, Morrison, and Tesco all this week.

I got my poppy on Monday from a very well stocked stall in Morrisons, the RBL had all sorts of lovely items on it as well as the simple poppy.
