Keith Bibby - You are speaking of a different world and a different Conservative Party to what we have now. Major was wrong and the feeling and mood against the EU in the Conservatives has grown massively since then, strong as was even then. No-one seeking selection as an MP for the Party will get selected by the local associations if shown to be pro-EU, that is a fact.

Cameron is a Eurosceptic, if a Europhile he would never have been voted leader. He is having to work in coalition with the most Europhile party in parliament.
Clarke, yes he is, the last of the old guard and is totally out of touch on the issue. So far out of touch with the Party he lost 3 bids for the leadership over it.

Keith - I realise the facts of running a coalition government does not meet your personal political prejudices but nevertheless they are important and relevant. I do not like them myself but I accept the truth of the situation.

for me i dont realy care how/who runs the country as long as it's in the interests of the population.
as iv said in earlier posts i was pleased labour didnt go the cobbled together route.
for the lib dems this is all short term gain, and whilst it will have given cleggy a bit of a power rush, the party is in turmoil although not quite to the extent as the conservatives who have given notice to bring there own leader down.
