22:5670443I was told that the money went last year on some disabled girl, leaving nothing for this year. I can`t remember all the details I heard today. I`m clueless in this carnival business.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

22:5970448I heard today the town council sent a lettrer asking why there was no float this year as money provided this year for a float to.

23:0070449The float is owned by DCAL, the court that took part in the parade resigned from DCAL. A new third carnival group organised the parade, this group did not at the time have a float.

I cant answer your question, that will need to be discussed with the group involved.
Can I ask that in future you spell my name right.

23:2170463With apologies to the Life of Brian, one must remember that there is both the "The Dover Carnival Court" and "The Carnival Court of Dover', two fractious and bickering separatist movements.

23:2270465Surely you need to ask those who owe it, if indeed it is owed. As we don't know that it is, any conjecture is probably unhelpful and may cause unnecessary distress.
For the record, I created DCAL as a formal legal entity in 2004 having failed to convince the previous association that I had financial backers, a team of willing volunteers to bring onboard, and that I could genuinely help rescue Dover's failing carnival. The evidence of my teams acheivements has been clear for all to see.
Knowing I was about to leave for pastures overseas I formally and legally closed down DCAL in 2007 and a new organisation took on the carnival stuff. All the assets from DCAL were 'gifted' to the new organisation and, even though I was by then out of the country, agreed to be Patron in order to provide some continuity. In reality I have had no dealings with carnival since before October 2007.
I am unable to offer any further comment or opinion on recent carnival matters and have no desire to be involved again. Having rescued the event once I have no ambition or time to be involved again.
My sincere best wishes to the new regime and hearfelt thanks to those who put and kept the show on the road from 2004 onwards.

08:2271289The young girl from Brighton was Hayley Okines who has a illness that ages her and a lovely girl she is too,at last years Carnival she was a special Queen and was taken around in a sports car, then the carnival court walked from Dover to Brighton.I donated the money to pay for the petrol for the sports car,but when I gave it to the car owner/driver he donated it to the charity.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
