I know that DoverPort own the seafront and would probably like to cut off the town from the sea with motorway to make their life easier, but does anyone on here know why they have chosen to put signs all along the seafront recently, reminding the public that it is private land and we are lucky DoverPort let us walk on it?
Presumably it's always been private land but my, maybe cynical view, is that they have done it for a reason and it won't be for the benefit of the town!

Where are these signs....? Thank you.
I swim in the sea and go along the Sea front every morning......
There are a huge amount of signs, pictures, posters and plans.....
However, nothing I have seen to indicate Private Land.....

I forgot to take a photo this morning but will remember next time. There is one down by the watersports centre and another one along towards the centre of the promenade.

I had to go back down into town and snapped the photos whilst there. It doesn't seem to suggest any changes from what existed before, byelaws etc, I'm just puzzled as to why place them now?

You're welcome, there are so many signs now down there you soon won't be able to see the sea

Probably Sue …….or it could be to do with the EU fishing quotas or to provide sanctuary for the sailors from a close not far from Dover……….?

Which is why Simon Jones of the BBC can't film on the seafront and is forced to report from non DHB land?

One of two things. Or both. Future restricted access on covid grounds, because, er... science. Future restricted access on climate grounds, because, er... science. Sorry I can't be more specific: there are so many emergencies around at the moment I just don't know which to choose.

The short answer is just 'yes'. My sources (such as they are) tell me that DHB is flexing its corporate muscles whenever realistically possible. Despite what the PR message might be, there will be no fishing on the Admiralty whenever there is any prospect of a cruiseship in the vicinity.
I'm actually quite glad they gave me the boot after 2 weeks as an internal auditor in 2008. Many of my misgivings then have since been justified.

If only the Invisible Man or one of the Super Heroes could go and remove all those notices that will make any tourist or visitor be they from a ferry, cruise liner or even the new marina, should that ever be used, feel so unwelcome.

Thanks, that makes sense, I've noticed Port Police moving on offending film crews and reporters at times, the silly thing is that it pushes them up to the western heights car park which actually allows them a better view with their cameras!
And fully agree about the fishing on the pier, they will go through the motions and then still ban it.
I look forward to being told I'm wearing out the promenade because I'm walking too fast....

That will be a sad day if the Sea sports centre goes? Another nail in the coffin for young people .Both my Sons used that facility. The Younger Son used to teach Children how to sail . KCC want to close the Roundhouse Theatre .DHB banning fishing .What are the young people supposed to do .
Something is going terribly wrong .
Come on Councillors start protesting .

Your rallying cry seems to have failed Jan, it looks like a DIY job! Tally ho!
