Life is indeed a game - the winner is the one who dies with the most toys.

I'm one of the most laid back people on here, but i do find that if any ones dares to have a different view to our lovely barryw some defend anbd barryw gets out of his pram.
I notice bob your views on my lightening up are never also sent to barryw, where i can only presume your politcal views line up along his which is fine, but what we want on here is open debate, and not like we see on other threads credible people being told they dont understand, or having hissy fits because they dare to challenge barryw.
still lets see how it all goes

17:2979661Keith - do get real.
The debate and discussion of views is all about challenging and being challenged.
Views and opinions should always be able to be backed up by the person offering the viewpoint, viz a viz...
You say you think X, and I say I think Y, is a rather pointless and boring exchange. But, if you say you think X for this or that reason, then I say I think Y for this or that reason, and query/challenge some of the reason you provide for thinking X - then we can have a real discussion that is interesting.
Only too often you will give an opinion with no reason or case stated, I will say I disagree for this reason or that and you get all hissy accusing me of stifling different opinions - the opposite being true. Far better for you to respond with a reason for your opinion and a challenge to my reasons.
If you express a view then be prepared for someone who takes a different viewpoint to ask for it to be substantiated - that is what intelligent debating and discussion is all about.
I have tried before to explain this to you and to draw out a more constructive debate but so far it seems to fall on deaf ears. Hope I have explained this better.
The other problem I have is where some people, you included, misrepresent and wrongly re-interpret what is said whether by me or other people. That does make me justifiably annoyed.

03:4880753Brian. It was unclear as to what you were referring but it is now apparent that you were visualising a potential successful privatisation bid from the Nord Pas de Calais regional government. As you say, the French authorities declared some time ago that they are not interested.
Paul Watkins took you to be referring to the Calais Port 2015 plan. There are many interesting ramifications to this and I shall be posting my own thoughts on the project, for what they are worth, shortly. Stand by for the lowdown on the Blue Banana.

12:5280770with all the money being spent on their own expansion plans, i cannot see the port of calais having the money left over to buy our port.
