13:1990730Kent Highways Services are on the track looking for potholes.
If there are any in your road or any other road where you may see them their exact location needs to be passed to KHS - phone: 08458 247 800 or
www.kent.gov.uk/highways
I have had two reports that people reported pot holes first thing in the morning and they were filled the same day - not saying that this will happen every time.
I have reported three this morning so I will keep an eye out to see when they are dealt with

14:0090731Nigel, I will keep an eye open for pot holes, but often I see drains that are completely silted up; so that when it rains, no water can go into them.
Should these also be reported to an appropriate office?

16:1990742i see that that k.c.c. highways supremo nick chard has been replaced in a bloodless coup at maidstone.
used to see him a lot on b.b.c. south east talking about pot holes and gritting.

17:0490744I have been complaining about the drains in Frith Road /Maison Diue Road for a year,1 has weeds growing out of it,well it did now it is blocked withsalt/grit,the other one by Morrisons can't be done because it has 3 mts of mud in it blocking the access in to the Dour,so the water can't run away.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

17:5390754Brian, the phone number/website are in the post above to report the pot holes, or try to contact your district councillor, his details are on the DDC website.

20:1890791John re#4, there was a sign about gullies being cleaned attached to the wall outside Roger's building the other day would this be the drain you meant do you think.
Who is responsible for the carpark at the Netto end, there is a very large deep one neer the pedestrian slope that goes down to Crafford Street. Health and safety would not approve.
While I remember does anyone know about the non official looking white sign that has gone up at the Crafford Street end of the footpath that runs behind the houses.

20:2390793Potholes along Balfour have been marked in white for a very long time now, by the time anyone comes round they wont do them as the white markings will have vanished.

20:4390811i know this will upset some, but we have to be patient about the potholes, money and people have been thrown at the problem but the extreme weather has been unprecedented.
the drains are different, alex, ian and susan plus other are talking about long standing neglect, nothing to do with precipitations.

Regarding the drains, this is just what is happening.
In this particular area if you let the silt build then the drains will not work, it don't take an idiot to figure this one out.

00:1290830John, someone told me that DDC had taken over the Netto site, is this yet another rumour I wonder.
From my earlier post, "While I remember does anyone know about the non official looking white sign that has gone up at the Crafford Street end of the footpath that runs behind the houses." I should have said what the notice said and forgot, it is something like 'This is not a public right of way' I cannot remember the exact wording but the whole thing seems very odd.

08:1590838Good diagram Ian, explains the problem very easily.
This is a problem along most of the Dour (and probably along every other river in the country) where silt has built up and not only drains can't empty into it/them, but as soon as any amount of rain comes down, the rivers overflow.
A big task to do, but in my view, clearing out the built-up silt, is a necessary one, a VERY necessary one.

12:5890851That's the one Howard, I thought the same until I noticed the post had been cemented in which seemed rather strange.

16:1290861didn't spot the cement jan.
mr immediate reaction was that it was being used by drunken youngsters at night and the residents were concerned about the noise and possible damage to the backs of their houses.
