Cllr John Heron invited the PCC for Kent down here for a public meeting on the subject and predictably was given the bums rush. His attention has now turned to the head Honcho locally but I cannot see anyone high up putting their head in the noose at a public meeting. I think the best we can expect is a public statement comprising bland platitudes like "zero tolerance" and "you said and we listened".

I forgot there was such a person for Kent as we never hear about all the wonderful changes he has made to combat crime in Kent never mind Dover.
I know that the force is stretched but the number of times I read they do not respond to problems (unless it is really serious) is disgusting, many say why bother reporting "the police will do nothing".
The idea of catching the petty criminal to stop them becoming hardened prison fodder seems to have ended.

We all understand the police are stretched,
but having had experience of how things are today gives me cause for concern.
We made it clear there was a prowler(or maybe innocent) person going around the Westbury area having got him on CCTV we contacted the Police with times/pictures in the hope the police could just stop him to find out his motives, and put a lot of peoples minds at rest in the area.
This guy was going around many nights between 0230-0400 looking in peoples windows, and looking very suspect.
What Reply i got was, to say the least strange.
Being part of an active community assoc i hoped we could work together to do this , instead i got 2 pcso's call at my house, one quite threatening asking me if i would remove the article stating we hope for more action by the police.
Even my wife who doesnt usually take much notice, when they left, said he was rather aggressive.
Of course I wasn't going to remove the article, as I believe we should be critical when things don't go well.
Thankfully since our facebook page highlighted this chap he hasn't been seen so hopefully we have resolved our own problem.
What is most worrying for me is, if this chap was to rob someone,or worse rape someone it would have all been to late.
Being told the police are overstretched and would always be busy between 0230-0400 didn't really wash. locals wanted to start up there own gang to sort the person out, we kept them at bay, in the hope of a police result. I'm not sure this will continue more long term in the guy returns
oh well

Mr Sansum. "Oh Well"? I trust you are going to write to the Kent PCC, with copies to the Dover Divisional Commander, about your concerns. If no complaint is made, no action will be taken. Your position as a "Town Councillor" may have slightly more heft than that from a humble, ordinary citizen.

No real surprise there Keith, I heard today that one of our local councillors rang the bill to advise of drug dealing going on outside a local school and she was asked that as no officers were available could she deal with it herself.

Any update on whether the local Commander is willing to face a public grilling?

If it happens again this man report it to CSU at Dover Council they are for ASB for community and can put up their own CCTV and help your street. Anyone with concerns in their street CSU will help you

If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

So that's where they all are? Surely they would be more productive out and about rather than swapping statistics in a talking shop? As for CCTV they have no effect on anti- social behaviour and other low level crime as the authorities usually say that the pictures are grainy or the camera was facing the wrong way.

I think Howard has a point
from time to time I get a random E Mail from a PCSO who may be dealing with a enquiry.
But we have advertised PCSO's in local business windows that no longer work for the police.
I have no idea who the resident PCSO's are for the ward(if we have any) what they do, hours they work, etc.
Hardly giving confidence in the police.

Very good point raised about PCSOs by Keith, when they were first onto the scene we had Lindsay/Linzi in our ward and in next to no time made a difference, first by listening to residents then acting on information. She now patrols the town centre but I don't see any where I live or other parts of Dover that I visit. There used to be contact details of our local officer on the Community Centre Message board but not any more.
The last PCSO locally was about 8 or so years ago and she just hurried along in a straight line just in case she might look to one side and have to do something about what was seen.

Well dont know Howard about low level impact on ASB . The lady about 24hr issue I have posted about (as I have been told) sent a CD of noise in her home from her neighbours Banging,. smashing objects against her wall and large object smashed against her wall) also showing a police call and sent a copy of that to the neighbours (3 neighbours) with a letter telling them to stop ASB towards her and this is why she called Police. As they had caused her ASB after she called Police because of the noise and calling Police. They (neighbours) then called Police onto her about the CD and letter within a day had a copper at her door - She emailed East Kent Housing about it that she spoke to police and why she took action as CSU and EKH were ignoring her reports to them of ASB of these neighbours so took action herself. EKH then wrote a letter to mental Team behind her back saying she was paranoid and irrational, that she was at risk to herself and neighbours were complaining they were being harassed! Then 9 days after this EKH had a meeting at CSU withCSU staff and Police(who work there) who then wanted her pulled in to be questioned again at DDC offices this was after they wrote to mental health team!. She was only trying to stop ASB from her neighbours she is a disabled lady with serious health issues, who these neighbours were new neighbours to her street ! Its not what you know its who you know and the two neighbours had strong links with 'councils ' so they got away with ASB whilst they hung her out to dry (I have been told) it was terrible. Her complaints of this are still ongoing today after 2 yrs. The above is what I heard and been told.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Of course we should applaud all the emergency services when they do well,
but I share with Howard the present problems where the police prioritise work
also we have given all PCSO 's access to our hall to hold surgeries or any other items
none taken up for many years
in all honesty I have no idea who the PCSO is for our area, or what they up to
or what they intend to do for the ward.
The last email I received was from a PCSO not even from the area,
It's a sad reflection of the times.

I tapped in my post code and discover we have two PCSOs, a sergeant and an acting inspector but no constables in the ward.

Seriously, I suggest we all make the most of the incredibly low level of crime down here just now. You ain't seen nothing yet. Almost
HALF of reported knife crime happened in Kent's northern division, which includes Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale.
