#40. Button, you would end up with the same result as now if there were to be a GE any time soon.

Could it be that District taxpayers have been reading DDC wrong? After all, this is the Council of which it was recently said "...what a wonderful council it is. It is what I call a “can-do” council. It is so helpful and so proactive." This from Sir David Amess. Whereas I don't think he was joking, his name is rather apt.
Mind you, he's MP for Southend West, so he starts from a rather low bar and distance always lends enchantment to the view. Especially from Essex.

Who is apart from the staunch blinkered local office Tories. For a supposedly intelligent woman she has hardly made a sensible comment regarding her constituents needs since being elected.

Jan I have just watched her on the news.Staring straight ahead appearing to read a board with her comments on.Never smiles or waver her hands about.

I have been saying this for some time , although we can I'm sure fault the present administration at DDC
There is unlikely to be any change up there for some years to come (if ever) we will see a few council seat change hands, but overall the largest opposition party is unlikely to increase its seats , more likely to lose even more .
The same goes with Mrs Elphicke , because of the lack of real opposition she increased the majority at the last election which seemed strange when the major opposition themselves felt they would run her close .
We are in a position now where the major opposition is trying to be as bad as the Govt , thus losing support across the constituency .

The last General Election was all about Brexit, so in many areas of the country even a monkey in favour would win.....in our case one did.

I'm not sure if your saying you have faith in the way our cllrs and MP are elected , or that you expect big changes at next elections as it won't be about Brexit ...
I don't think much will change any time soon

At the moment as we do not know who will be standing or their policies I have no idea what will happen or whether there will be any changes.

Jan I see that the forty flat development end of Coombe Valley Road has been given the go ahead.Took no notice of that terrible junction .What is the obsession with building high rise flats .A lot of the houses in that area are pre war.Very busy junction with ambulances lorries and buses.Thats besides the people crossing the road at the junction .
The mind boggles .its where Graham’s was .

Jan
The same old usually stand and because no one else puts up usually they get in .
There are a few that people make don't get in
Like Mirian woods of lab who appear to have lost in si many wards why would she bother again .but I suspect with st rads having a by election she could turn up there .
Sadly a few good cllrs stand but they are soon hounded out by a closed shop don't rock the boat brigade
Unless lab has a rethink on candidates both on councils and for MP
Much of the same will continue

More and more of the electorate will simply choose not to vote at all. In the last few elections I confess to have registered my disapproval of the candidates by writing that message on my ballot paper. I hated doing it but felt there was no other alternative.
