The trouble is you can only vote for whoever is on the ballot paper. That was the reason I abstained last time, the same old or those who were completely unknown candidates.

Indeed so; according to Big World Tale, that nice Mrs Elphicke wrote a supporting letter to Secretary of State Robert Jenrick including those very figures. So it must be true. And given that the seating capacity is 3,500 compared with staffing of 900, service should be pretty slick!

900 staff and seating capacity for 3500…. Which part of the green western heights are they going to cover in tarmac for at least 2000 cars… That does not include HGV’s for the concerts etc
Expect traffic jams on South Military Road from Aycliffe and North Military Road from Town
Pity for the house owners who live nearby..
I all for a memorial for Vera but this is just in the wrong place..

I am still fighting for extra parking at Aycliffe..
No sign of that yet.
Anytime Aycliffe asks for something apparently no money or they blame someone else

Yet another waste of money to add to the list of misguided projects.

"catalyst for positive change across the town."
It's the same wording DDC have used for the White Cliffs Experience and so many more failed costly projects. If you took the vast amounts of money that has been spent on all these projects over the last 10 years and let Dover people decide what we actually needed the town would be far more affluent and welcoming.

I wonder what Dame Vera would have thought of this misguided waste of money being spent in her name, after all should it go ahead it can only really be used in decent weather.
Just a thought the Roundhouse could be refurbished and named Dame Vera Lynn Theatre, something that would really be an apt memorial for someone who was involved with entertainment and the young.

Unfortunately, the funding for this colossally expensive white elephant that will end up being used once and then slowly rotting, required the support of our MP; she made it clear to DDC that the only project she would support was this nonsense. It really didnt matter what our councillors or officers thought it was this or nothing; thankfully they managed to pad an extra £12m or so into what they have asked for, so we will see some money spent in the town and hopefully they might even ask us what they want it spent on...

I very much doubt that any money will be spent on things that residents deem important. If they can waste money on parklets, the White Cliffs Experience, St James development etc etc then there’s little chance of any improvement in the foreseeable future. Meanwhile there’s also the Bus Rapid Transit to look forward to……….!

Really? I'd like to think you're joking but sadly ( given I pay her wages) I guess you're not. I reckon it just goes to show that you can be an OBE, a British Conservative Party politician and a finance lawyer and still be a barking mad waste of space. What do we want: General Election; when do we want it: now!
