10:5388000I am surprised at the comments generated by my use of the word 'verbose' which I used as a COMPLIMENT - ie. someone with a gift for words... if I misunderstood the meaning, then I do apologise... as far as it being used as an insult nothing was further from the truth !!! And yes, I may be ignorant in some matters ....

11:0688002Well said Kath.
I think Howard's post #50 and Peter Garstin's post #58 on the original thread probably sum up how most of us viewed your original reply. A light hearted comment, indeed compliment as you say, comparing Andrew's use of language to the standard often found on here, and not deserving of the response you got.

11:3688014Well, I read it through and couldn't find any abuse at all, just some mild exchanges. Ross is right, it is how it is felt that matters, but even acknowledging that and totally supporting our right to freedom from abuse, it was difficult to see how the judderingly huge response of a new thread and expressions of personal disempowerment was prompted. Perhaps we should also bear in mind the intent - I can see the word "verbose" was intended as a mild compliment and a brief aside only. If we are not careful we will have to edit every word and thought before committing and I am absolutely not prepared to do that given that my intent is not to abuse or offend. Can't we just talk it over, people?

13:4188022Oh dear!
Thankyou kath for clearing that up and thankyou for the compliment.
I can only react to what I see. It wasn't my fault you used a word to mean the oppsoite of what it does .
And Ray, please dont say things like "most pdeople thought" you dont kn ow that.
I have had several supportive e-mails backchannel praising me for having principles and the courage to stick to them. One comment read: "The posts that follow yours are typical of the people posting them".
I am clearly not a "forum darling" like one or two who may not be all they seem .
Bern, you claerrly are not on my side and seem to be out to disagree wth wahtever I Fay. funny, others thought I was quite diplomatic. But fair enough, you are entitled to do that.
Anyway, as long as we know. It's Ok to post irrelevant comments about people's personal friendships, misguided charactrer assassinations and woe betide anyone who tries to defend himself, becauase he will be told they are wrong for even trying to do so.
Meanwhile a bunch of voyeurs and lurlkers look on, chortling.
Anyone else in the queue to have a go, feel free, I have toher things to do.
Happy New Year.

17:0388047Hey!! I am not on anyones side, so don't make assumptions, Andrew. And I didn't disagree with you, unless holding my own view which doesn't tally exactly with yours counts as such.
