Keith irritates me at times on here with his political comments but I can meet him in the street and we can chat away quite happily, quite simple really.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

- 3 May 2013 10:36227869Sigh. Ignoring all the above, can I say how pleased I am that the Western Heights Preservation Society have been very deservedly recognised for their Outstanding Contribution to "The Heritage of Dover."
Paul Wells has put his heart and soul into this for many years, I don't know how he finds the time with all his other interests. Phil Eyden is constantly researching all manner of arcane details particularly with reference to the various regiments and units. Jeff Howe, Mandy Whall, Sarah Abbott, Sarah Price, the Gartshore girls, the list goes on and on. All volunteers devoting their spare time to preserving our heritage.
A very well done to everybody concerned.

All the nominees deserved recognition - ultimately it isn't winning the award that's important, but just being acknowledged for contributing is what's all about. Volunteers do not seek individual praise - it's not why we do it - it is just trying to do something positive for Dover and our community that's important.

David is correct about the value of volunteers & politicians keeping out of their way other than to facilitate where they can.
