The evening was a great success, Mary and Tracey at DTC worked especially hard.
Its great to see how many people do such great work for no recompense, barely even a thank you. The Farrier family conducted themselves with dignity at a difficult time.
It reiterates what I've been saying for ages, keep attention seeking politicians out of the way and things run very smoothly.

Don't encouage politicians keep them out of the way, this event proved conclusively that people operate best when politicians keep out of the way.
They must be DISCOURAGED because they have personal and party agendas

There is a lot of good work done by councillors of all parties, so we should encourage them

This awards evening was all about people working behind the scenes for no payment or reward, as usual Keith hijacks it and brings politics into it.
Keith, its career politicians like you that are the reason why turnout at elections is so low, we're all sick of you lot

David
You made a comment to which i replied to, i have not hi jacked the thread at all
in fact if you bothered to read my postings both before the results and today they congratulate all the worthy winners.
my thoughts were that we should encourage others such as politicians as some of them also do a good job

Everyone should be encouraged regardless of what they do in life, specialist knowledge is always useful. Having the support of a local politician can help smooth things out at council level, friends in high places and all that twaddle.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan
Iv always felt encouraging(whoever they are) to be the best way
to constantly slag politicians off(not you) will do little to encourage them

spot on jan, always best to keep those on the inside onside so to speak - never wise to alienate anyone.

Tell that to politicians Howard, they've alienated the electorate and now want our encouragement.
You couldn't make it up

Never saw it but I know the one you mean.
It comes down to to whether or not you're satisfied with the way we're governed at different levels Howard, if you are thats all well and good. Turnout at elections suggests disillusionment on a massive scale.

On a personal level not one politician has alienated me but maybe I can differentiate between work and play, sadly David does not seem to be able to do that.

Not sure what you mean Jan.
My whole point and one I stand by, is when politicians keep out of the way things run smoothly because silly agendas and squabbles aren't introduced
