Very sad to see these shops closing down. My wife is getting worried about the vouchers she got at Christmas for Bon Marche. Will they be honoured. ?

Just to put the other side to this, my daughter works in the Dover store. The abuse some customers have given the staff is terrible. Last Saturday one girl was reduced to tears after a male customer got right in her face and shouted at her.
Please everyone try to remember that the staff are only doing what they are told by the administrators. Mostly they will be out of work soon so they have the worry of being unemployed so no wages coming in.They do know how frustrating it is for the customers but there's nothing they can do, just make the best of things until the end. A worrying time for them all.

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
I agree Jacqui I witnessed a customer being so rude to a staff member on Saturday that the girl had to leave the tills almost in tears . I spoke with her afterwards and asked if she was ok , Im really sorry that so many people face loosing thier jobs . It cant be nice for customers who cant exchange things or have to write away to get thier gift vouchers honoured , but taking out frustrations on teenage girls wont help . Im sorry for your experience as well Jenni

Sadly these sorts of bullies will always take their frustration out on those they believe are not in a position to fight back, funny how they rarely have a go at the male managers or security guards...

Very sad to see that Howard - especially as it's not Dover's fault.
Is there a date for closure ?

According to this it looks like Dover is saved but all the others in Folkestone, Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet will close

could be that the town shops are used by people without cars, westwood cross attracts the more up market shoppers.

Probably more the extortionate rents and limited floorspace, out of town is probably a pittance in comparison
