The latest news on the above is that a lot of these companies have been to be seen to act irresponsible in its actions,
On the other side of this the credit union is not allowed allowed to charge more than 43% interest
where as the pad day lenders charge up to 5,000 %
One of these being Wonga, who just happen to be a donor to the Conservative party
any connection as to why progress is slow to address this?

keith
should the cobbled together coalition carry out their benefit reforms in full i would strongly advise you to invest any spare cash you have in wonga.
in a couple of years you would have a nice little nest egg.

Keith, money lenders pay tax to the Treasury, so the more money they make, the more intake for the Treasury, courtesy Osborne.

The change from being able to claim benefits from 3 days of being unemployed to 7 could see more people being tempted by Wonga and the likes.

Think people have missed my point;
2 million people use these money lenders, which will be a bigger problem as highlighted by Martin and others.
but Wonga donates to the Consrvative party, and that's probably why this cobbled together lot are dragging there feet.
not only that, better lenders such as CREDIT UNIONS are forced to only charge up to 43% interest and rightly so, but these others are allowed to charge whatever they like, some up to 5,000%

The Wonga coup: Chancellor George Osborne's 'gift to the payday lenders' in Government
Spending Review
Chancellor unveiled unexpected £365m package of further welfare cuts
George Osborne was accused of driving the jobless into the arms of foodbanks and payday
lenders tonight after announcing that the unemployed would have to wait seven days before
claiming benefits.
In his government-wide spending review, the Chancellor unveiled an unexpected £365m
package of further cuts in welfare. Under a "work first" policy, the jobless will have to sign on
every week instead of fortnightly; look for work from the start of their claim and learn English
or face losing benefits if poor language skills are a barrier to work. Single parents will have to
prepare for work when their youngest child is three so they can get a job when the child is five. -

Well the latest commission set up to sort this mess out should be given a free hand to do so
but as Wonga donates to the Govt(well its lead party) I suspect they wont be given that free hand

Howard, I said don't borrow from Wonga.
When you say they don't have an option do you honestly believe that borrowing at that rate solves the problem?

Reg, you know absolutely nothing about me so spare the patronising thanks.
It is simple, if you don't agree with Wonga's principles or terms don't use them, you'll always find a friendly neighbourhood loan shark that will be sympathetic when you can't pay him back.

Who said life is simple Keith?
The vast majority of people in this country are in debt, all for various reasons. Wonga is a legal, legitimate business that advertises on national TV, if you don't like them don't use them. If you want to use them read the Ts & Cs.

That the best you can do Reg?
Think about it Reg, you have a wonderful and socially acceptable business opportunity here, lending money to people with poor credit ratings at low rates. Everyones a winner
Between you and Keith how many years have you spent as councillors?
