I was not trying to put you off Vista, thousands use it with no problems, I just prefer XP for my own reasons. Just like I support Chelsea and other's don't.

Paul, if you get an iMac then I will freely volunteer to get you started on it. There's nothing to learn - it is easier that winding up a wristwatch, it comes with everything you need pre-installed, and the one or two new thing are easier to learn than falling off a big lumpy log. You take it out the box, plug it in, and away you go!
I know a lot of people hate to change long standing habits but honestly, it will transform your life to the point where you will hardly know your using a computer, unlike Windows which has a nasty habit of reminding you thanks to all the bugs, crashes, viruses, spyware, complex set-ups, etc etc.

Ah now Rick thats a very persuasive case you make there but as Im now in the bus pass generation I am reluctant for any kind of change that might cause me a headache however temporary...sez he shamelessly playing the age card

I know about Vista's problems, that's why I don't use it or recommend it. Clearly though there are people who use it with no problems, as you can see by previous posters.
I do share your view that it is worth people looking into changing over to Mac, but it wont be to everyone's taste, as it is different and will need a learning period for some to make that change.
I am glad you had no problems converting to a Mac, but it does have compatible issues, printers and scanners, and with some of the more sophisticated software.
As with everything else, we can all go on internet and pull out snippets to prove our points. Its all down to personal preference's in the end.

But it isn't just Windows. Almost ALL of their software is trash, from Internet Explorer and Outlook through to Office, Publisher, and of course that rubbish Xbox.
