i believe there are two up in scotland, don't know of any others.
these immigrant grey ones took over all the trees, we will have to wait for damian green to blame the last government for letting them all in.
Dt1 im far from a veggie i love meat but eating these animals is getting caveman like, Brian you finally thinking of joining weightwatchers with me ???????
Cows pigs etc are breed for food chain squirrels are not, didnt see receipe of roast squirrel with assorted nuts last time i read my cooking books nor hanging up in rooks.

I've got some interesting recipes, the flesh of squirrels is light red or pink in colour when young and can be cooked in many ways, older ones can be tough and need to be pan-broiled. Squirrel Pie with mushrooms! Mmmmm....
Peter said they make good sausages, I can picture it now, Sammy beavering away in his kitchen. Hmmm, Beaver, now where's my cookbook

Can't see the difference between eating pigs, horses, cows, dogs, cats, squirrels. All mammals with eyes, faces babies and hearts.

I agree Bern.
Mel, maybe you will not currently find squirrels in Rooks, but you will find rabbit. Many butchers offer local wild rabbit and you'll find plenty of recipes too.
I can see the attachment to these fluffy little animals but we also love those little lambs come the spring and even take our kids to go and pet them. Surely this act is even more perverse?
Indeed. And although I am veggie now, when I did eat meat I would have eaten any animal and any part (almost...!) because if you eat meat, why not?! I remember eating horse in France (where else?) and it was fine. A little sweet.......

Rooks charge lots of money for a rabbit, Cappers in the Charlton Centre charge £2.99.
If someone will deposit a squirrel or two on our doorstep (no road kill, please!) I will experiment with a sausage recipe.

bit of useless information here, in vietnam tortoises are served up on platters for special occasions.
Disgusting , i think served upon David Camerons head would be more appealing.

Mel it might have been meant to be light hearted but your post 30 , makes me very uncomfortable , especially the commment aboutother races seeing pests or vermin as a free buffet .

Why would a tortoise be served up on a platter? Don't they already come with one?

And if it was a well known tortoise it would be a Sleb Platter. I'll get my coat...........
Brian i will convert you , you see if i dont .......
