Bern, Brazil had a population of 96 milion some 30 years ago, now at over 200 million.
Brazil and India, and China too, every year spend sums on military equipment that could be used to feed hundreds of millions of children and support them with medicines and medical facilities as well as clean water.
Charity by all means, for those who have the means to donate charity. But our Country cannot afford to take the responsibility - at national Treasury level - for hundreds of millions of other children around the world.
There are very rich people in Brazil and India too, whose riches often come from exploitation of the poor people living there.
Poverty could be done away with in India and Brazil, there is more than enough money and there are more than enough resources in those two countries to do so.
It should not be up to the average British mother struggling with mortgage or rent, debt and everyday expenses to be financially burdoned with these extra expenses on other countries self-inflicted problems.
So the national Treasury should be used for us and our problems. Charity in the form of money to these other countries should be private and on a voluntary basis.
