  changes are afoot at manston where operator flybe are stopping their manchester service from the 4th april due to falling passengers.
  
  not all bad news though, they are starting a service to and from belfast on the 26th may.
  
  the service will be 3 per week on tuesday, thursday and sunday.
  
  prices are £.29.99 one way with a flight time of 1 hour 40 minutes.
  
  the edinburgh service is unaffected.

  There is also rumours of KLM doing a European route.
  
  Rather than Belfast it would be nice to have Dublin back

  I have booked to flight out of Manston in May after the elections just in case I need to make a quick getaway and I am flying to Edinburgh to walk across Scotland Fort William to Inverness.
  The flight was about £3 each way but by the time I booked my seat? can I stand?
  luggage airport securityfuel surchage etc etc it was about £100 return.
  The reason why I might need a quick getaway is in case some one asks me to be Mayor!!!
  If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

  Remember Forumites you can catch a direct fly to Jersey from Manston this summer cost last year £156 return. I'll even meet you at the airport to save your taxi fare!

  Its very disappointing news though about Manston, they cant seem to get a steady service off the ground in any direction. The Manchester service was priced at business class levels as is the Belfast one, so its not for you and me making a quick getaway for a leisure weekend...leisure travellers are priced out of play. Thats why there were no takers for Manchester.
  
  Yes Paul I remember EUJet, an Irish airline, and I think I remember you flew to Dublin for £9...am I remembering that correctly? I never flew with them myself alas...and then they were gone. Sadly they priced things too low. Its either too high or too low.
  
  But Manston is still at the same level of inactivity as it was years and years ago. Back in my London days I used to make financial investments like ye do, and I was sent an investment opportunity at the time. I remember looking at it and thinking it could be a winner, it was Manston hailed as the coming airport, this was in the 1980's and I think it was in the hands of Wiggins Teape, I think Im remembering the name correctly...but I passed it by in the end.
  
  The airport is as you can see still sadly in the exact same position. No advancement whatsoever.
  
  Every now and again we get a news story heralding a new dawn but...

  Flybe appear to be stopping all routes to Newcastle, Teeside and Leeds at the end of March. I only discovered when I tried to book a flight to Leeds yesterday.

  Seems such a shame they can't seem to get Manston off the ground, remember flying off to Nice from there left at breakfast time and was eating lunch in the south of France by lunch time yet if you look at its counterpart Lydd they seem to thrive.

  The Machester and Edinburgh are only really filling the gap where they can fit a flight in rather than have the aircraft idle.
  
  People in Thanet complain, but the new aircraft are a lot quieter than the old Hercules when they user to fly in and out all the time !!

  I remember EUJet we were due back from Amsterdam when they went bust, we had to come back via Eurolines the girls loved it, it was well, Er, interesting to say the least, took hours
  
  It was really handy for Dublin used by family and friends from both sides of the Oirish Sea, would be nice to see it return
  
  I like the sound of Marek's offer, we could have a new business enterprise there, Doverforum Channel Island Holidays lol!

  It is as always, "use it or lose it". Manston could so easily expand if it was seen to be used a lot.
  
  It must be chicken and egg; do you create the destinations (EUJet created too many too quickly and people didn't use them much at all) and hope people use them, or fill up the available routes.
  I would have thought that Dublin would have been more popular than Belfast; Palma too is a popular destination.
  
  What are the Hotel prices like Marek ? I thought you could only fly Manston to Jersey if on a package holiday ?

  As a matter of interest Jersey are commencing direct flights to Warsaw starting Easter mainly due to demand from a large Polish working community based over here.

  After a successful 2010 programme, Jersey-based C. I. Travel Group is operating direct flights from Manston, Kent's International Airport for the fourth year running. The service will operate every Saturday between 14 May and 17 September 2011 from Manston.
  
  C. I Travel has confirmed that for bookings made before 31 December 2010 for 2011 holidays, prices have been held at 2010 levels. Prices start from just £359 per person for 7 night's bed and breakfast at the Villa Isis. They are also offering early booking offers such as FREE half board, FREE nights stay or FREE car hire on a wide range of hotels.
  
  The route will be sold by C. I. Travel Group's well-established consumer brands that include Airways Holidays, Discover Jersey and Channel Islands Travel Service. The route will also be available to Jersey hoteliers wishing to offer their own clients from the Kent & East Sussex areas a direct flight to the island.
  
  Manston, Kent's International Airport provides a welcome alternative to London Gatwick. Access to the airport terminal is very straightforward and passengers can also take advantage of fast check-in times and highly competitive car parking charges.
  
  Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director of C. I. Travel Group said 'C.I. Travel Group are delighted to confirm that in 2011, for a fourth successive year, we will be operating our service to Jersey from Manston. In the past three years we have developed a very successful programme from Kent and together with our trade partners are looking forward to building on this success next year. Visitors this year also found that their holiday spending went a lot further as there were no Euro exchange rates to worry about.'
  
  Charles Buchanan, Chief Executive of Manston, Kent's International Airport said: "We're pleased the popular Jersey route has been confirmed for 2011. This route underlines Manston's value as an excellent regional airport for the South East. And we're so easy to use - where else can you park within sight of the check-in desks."

  I am sorry to say but the Hospital have now told me I must not fly becAuse I am going in within 6weeks and also 10weeks after I come out but I do not know why.
