Sorry, I meant to add that the dredger was named after Captain David Church, he was a master on the tugs and dredger before going into the DHB offices as Dredging Superintendent back in the early 80's. I was in their Marine Dept from 1980 thru 84. Nice chap and popular which is why I guess they remember him like that. He died young though, heart I believe.

Pretty sure that the David Church was named in memory of a local pilot.
The previous DHB dredger was the Admiral Day which was working in Ramsgate recently.
I have often wondered where the single fluke anchors came from that are beside Port Control and found out on a recent visit that they used to be employed by the Admiral Day.
