Gold and Silver for the Brownlee brothers in the Triathlon, an event that represents a true Olympic event like the Decathlon and Pentathlon.

Money well spent it could so easily have been frittered away on things like food banks, care for the elderly etc.

I agree it is a lot of money but a lot of money is also spent on so many other things that one could equally complain about, the all encompassing arts spring to mind as well as the perks for those who sit in Parliament.
At least the medal winners can inspire some of us couch potatoes to take up a sport and hopefully get fit.

They certainly give us inspiration I even watched the jump off ff in the Show jumping when Nick Skelton aged 58 won gold - such an example.

Divided an estimate of UK spend on Olympics by number of medals. Others come out at higher figure of £5.5 million!
