They will soon find something justified or not, me included.

Bounce (Rather than start a new thread...)
Walking through town today spotted the following
a) Bench Street - the old Post Office is being turned into a cycle shop
b) Market Square - new cafe bar being fitted out
c) old art shop on Castle St has a planning application outside to turn it into an estate agent
d) The old Delmaines repair shop opposite the Charlton Centre has just had a new shop front fitted
e) my sources tell me 1-2 London Road (old MHK plumbers) has been let
f) there are builders in the old army surplus store and premises above
this is in addition to the Fancy Dress Shop, the Coughy Shop and Asda

wondering about that one in market square, it has applied for a drinks licence 8 a.m. until midnight.
i was told that it would be a polish drinking club, has anyone else heard any rumours.
certainly good that raleigh have taken over the new post office.
they could be run off their feet next winter, if the snow grounds flights and the ferry companies insist that would be foot passengers should go by bike.

The people who have applied for a licence are based in Ramsgate and I believe have a ba cafe there too

Like Ross says, we have to look positively at what is being done... the glass is half full (not half empty)

here is a shot of the new one being worked on, the cafe next door seems to have changed names from memo's place.
i believe that it is still the same chap that runs it.
notice also that chapter 18 is under new management.

Do you mean Chapter 8, Howard. They have been one of our advertisers for many years now and Tony (the owner) has always supported Doverforum
We've had some great parties there over the years.

Could i add the fairly new owners of the chip shop at the bottom of tower hamlets just up from the eagle pub.
All foods freshly cooked, and he's gaining in reputation all the time.
only difficulty is the lack of parking, but a nice healthy walk and a visit here would help another business to flourish.

So Tony has sold and moved on ?
Wasn't there to be a youth club or similar down in that part of the Market Square, where the old Paul Brown's Estate Agent was at one time ? I understood it was funded by KCC and DDC.
Now that I'm just a nobody, I don't know what's going on in Town - thanks for the news.
Good Luck to all these new businesses.

i seem to remember the same roger, then there was talk of it being a social club, now it appears to be a bar.
the sign in the window of "chapter 8" saying that it was under new management, i think it was from a company called "fortuner".

The bar/cafe/whatever has applied for and been granted permission to be a members club. They have only ever submitted the sketchiest of plans (showing only the position of a pool table) and very few details of expected clientele. Surprising that DDC approved it really based on what they were prepared to admit.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
